Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
My husband isn't on DK but I am so proud of him and I wanted to share. This weekend we groomed all 3 dogs! And the coolest part was he did Jake almost entirely by himself! I am so proud of him. I really enjoy seeing their bond growing. After I washed and dried/groomed Brisby and Pickles, we started on Jake and he brushed him, washed him, dried him and clipped his body and 1/2 way down his legs. He was nervous about the face, tail area and feet so I chose to call it a day and teach him the rest next weekend.
And the coolest thing-of our three doods, Jake was the best, calmest, and confident on the table! The process with all 2 took a decent part of the weekend's morning and afternoon and the kids did a great job of quietly playing by themselves or giving us tools when we needed them. Great family effort. And afterward, hubby was so proud of Jake's clip, we took him to Lowes with us to get gardening supplies.
I can't tell you all how happy I am that my husband is bonding with Jake. He always wanted "a dog" of his own and was afraid is wasn't a dog person. I'm attaching a picture of Jake post groom and one of the gang. My husband is not big on being in pictures so I was unable to get one with him and Jake. Thanks for listening to the journey of Jake. Moments like this make it worth it. Especially when I was really only planning on Brisby and Pickles.
And thanks for letting me gush about hubby. :)

I'm so envious, as my DH wouldn't attempt grooming in a thousand years! Its a solo effort on my part. Not sure if he's a true 'dog person', but he's definitely a big 'Lucy and Oscar' person... hands down!
Your crew looks great and your hubby did an excellent job on Jake!
They look great, tell your Husband he did an awesome job!
I'm so happy for your DH and for you. We have had dogs our whole lives and my DH didn't really bond with any until the Goldens. Then came the Goldendoodles. He even kisses them! He is mad about the doodles and he too has helped me groom them. I am awed and amazed. Yay doodle love!
Wonderful news!! The haircuts look awesome!
Keep him - sounds like a wonderful weekend at your house. The pics are fabulous - I do just love Jake's little white goatee.
The bonding, well I think I have an inkling of how you feel. We have always had dogs, I am a dogaholic - thirty five years of marriage and I am simply the dog mama. Hubby did not grow up with dogs, he did love our GSD's and the last one he took training classes with. However, when we got Journey the dynamic shifted and they have a bond that just pleases me to no end. He walks her, he combed her out when I was in hospital last year, and he just seems to have clicked with her silly self. She looks at him like he is to be adored and he missed her so much when we took vacation last year, yes as much as I did if not a smidge more. I was floored. I am constantly amazed and touched, not to mention the bottom line is that yes even an old fart can have his heart melted by a pair of dark pools in a currly face.
Love it - - your hubby rocks and PB&J are blessed. Rock on.
Great job done by all! I love hearing about the PB&J group! They are all as cute as can be...and looking very handsome after their grooming! Would you lend your husband out to me.....I could use an extra pair of hands when grooming Bailey and my husband is usually found on the golf course when the grooming happens! LOL!
Wow....the dogs all look amazing. I admire anyone who takes this task on, and especially with three dogs. My poor dogs never look this good....that's why I give my groomer a great tip :) Your husband sounds like a very nice man.
Great job on all three. Hooray for hubby getting in there and giving it a try - a very successful try.
I have loved following the evolution of the PB&J gang and this is like the cherry on top! Love the picture of the 3 of them - a head tilt always gets me!
Good for him and for you...that is awesome:)
