That's funny... yes, my doodles pee on their walks, but only in designated areas along the route. They know the 'common' areas in the neighborhood and hold it until they reach those areas. Of the 2 doods, Lucy seems to pee more often while on walks. I was just mentioning that to DH the other day, that she seems to have more marking behavior than Oscar. I didn't know females marked.
Gavin did not pee on walks until after he was two. He does both now on walks in his neighbourhood. if he goes somewhere new he does not mark but will releive himself. I was releived when he started going regularly while on walks as prior he would hold urine and stool if we were not at home. 24 hous without peeing was troubling!
My dogs pee everywhere. I've got enough to worry about without this one! The boys are both markers and will both mark the same spot - just to be sure, I guess. They all usually poop too because we take fairly long walks and the exercise gets things moving.
I do encourage them to pee/mark the public areas, not someone's front lawn.

I swear Alma has an auxiliary bladder when I take her out for a walk! I've thought about counting the number of times she stops to mark (20...30x's She can go 5 times at the park across the street before we even begin our walk!) but I think I'd loose count. I'm amazed that any living thing could hold so much liquid inside of them. And to think that I wanted a female so we could enjoy a walk without stopping. And lucky for her we have a nice walking path so she can sniff and pee all she wants. We joke and say she is leaving p-mail for her fellow doggie friends. We're sure there's a secret message in the trail she leaves.
