The ignorance of some people never cease to amaze me! How can anyone truly believe that the color of a dog, person, or critter dictates their personality!!!! I've had MANY dogs in my long lifetime - 2 of the very sweetest have been my black boys. You couldn't ask for a bigger cuddly teddy bear than my Cody.

I don't think that many people consciously believe it. I think it's just subconsciously ingraining in people that black dogs are scary. Think of all the scary dog characters or symbols you know of; they are usually black dogs.

I had never heard of the black dog issue until I became a member here. It was right after we rescued Jake. You can see how "Scary" lol he is in these pictures. :) The only issue I am worried about with his coloring is the summer heat. New Mexico gets pretty hot in the summer. Even now if he is outside for more than 10 minutes his fur is very warm to the touch. Someone is getting a wading pool.... :)
