Happy Gotcha Day, Ragley!

Last Thursday, Ragley and I celebrated her first Gotcha Day together! I cannot believe it has already been a year since she came home. I remember that day so vividly- it seems like just yesterday.

I came downstairs in scrubs ready to go to my morning nursing simulation lab. I put coffee on and walked into my parents’ room to say good morning. I’ll never forget the look on my mom’s face as she turned to me, smirked playfully, and said, “so are we going to go pick up my puppy today?” She knew the plan was to go the next day after my pediatric nursing test so I wouldn’t be distracted as I was trying to study, but I guess the puppy fever and her newly acquired YOLO (you only live once) mentality overcame her as she insisted that surely it wouldn’t be that big of a deal to get her just one night early. I reminded her that it was supposed to be the parent’s job to be the voice of reason in situations like this and not the other way around, but of course she won. We met at my campus after my lab for lunch at Firehouse Subs, headed north, and the rest is history. 

She passed away about a month and a half later, and being able to have that memory forever is something I truly cherish. Ragley has been such an amazing blessing and I can't imagine my life without her!
