Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
When I first found this group and I was looking through all the posts and pictures...Posts about adding a second doodle or "I just got my third doodle". Pictures of six or more doodles in photos.. I thought wow these are some crazy doodle people!
Well, now I know why. Hahaha! Even though my GD is still a puppy and I now have a lab puppy too AND I'm dealing with all the puppy training, running, jumping, chewing and general puppy kid stuff. I'm sitting here thinking.. wow I wouldn't mind having a second doodle when these guys get older! Now maybe I will change my mind when Duffy hits his teen years but I can't believe another doodle is even a passing thought for me.
What is it about these doods? They are worse than potato chips, it's like you can't have just one!

For the past year, I have been thinking about a second one. The only reason I haven't gone for it, is the additional expense.
That would be my reason too. That, and we would eventually like to travel with the two dogs we have now. I have never boarded my dogs. They either come with us or I get a in home pet sitter. Three dogs would make it a lot harder to travel places. Right now we are taking care of elderly family members but one day we would like to get a motor home and travel a bit. I'm not sure how three large dogs would do in a motor home but the dogs would come first and traveling second. I just can't believe I'm actually wanting another doodle and these guys are still puppies!
Truthfully though, if it wasn't for DK and reading, reading and more reading on here before I got my puppy maybe the outcome would have been different. Because of DK, I was prepared for a doodle puppy. I've raised puppies all my life but mostly labs and there is a difference in how I train my doodle compared to my lab. There's not a huge difference in puppy training but just knowing some of the quirks doodles have in advance has made my experience a whole heck of a lot easier!
That's why we are called "Hopeless Doodle Addicts". Glad to see you are as crazy as we all are!
Well unlike potato chips, Doodles are fat free and come with an abundance of exercise that they force upon us! lol
We don't need Weight Watchers we have Doodle Watchers. hehe..
We have an RV and have had as many as 4 dogs in it. They fit just fine, but unless you have assistance, leisurely walks and potty time walks have to be done in shifts, which is much less fun.
We had just one doodle for 1.5 years and then I thought we should get Charlie a playmate. However Charlie wants to play ball with people and seldom plays one on one with Beau. They are now 5 and 3. While watching the super bowl today, Beau wanted to play, but Charlie did not want to play - grrrrr! I told DH, maybe we should get Beau a little sister to play with! Oh - DH just looked at me like I was crazy!
Linda, That is funny! I am sure your DH was hoping that thought would disappear. Our two do not play either. Kona is 9 and Owen is 5 but they never play because Kona doesn't want to. He was born an "old soul" and Owen, well let's just say, Owen was not. ;o)
I see other discussions where some members' doodles are playing non stop and I just have to laugh. I think I am actually thankful ours do not do that. Charlie was like a little old man at 9 weeks old and so easy to train! I have always considered him my heart dog. It took me a while to get to used to Beau's party personality - but my heart definitely had room for two heart dogs! I would not want to be without either one of them.
Haha! I probably thought the same as you in the beginning and now I have two! WTD! There really is something about these guys and I love every bit of it!
Hah! You do realize that you are now crazy too!! Dogs and doodles especially just get into your heart and there always seems to be room for one more.
Welcome aboard!!
