Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Looks like we lost the weight up-date discussion some how.
I enjoyed checking into it every now and then, so I decided to make a vol. 2.
Charlie was 13.7lb @ 10 1/2 wks, 19.7lb @ 15wks, 22.3 lb @ 16 wks, 30lb @ 23 wks, and now 35lb @ 27 wks.

Tenley's weight trajectory. His parents were 27 & 45lbs.

8 weeks: 7.8lbs

9 weeks: 8.6lbs

10.5 weeks: 10.5lbs

11 weeks: 11.2lbs

14 weeks: 15.6lbs

16 weeks: 18.3lbs

20 weeks: 25.3lbs

23 weeks: 26.1lbs

25.5 weeks: 27lbs

6 months: 28lbs (we're going to switch to months now)

Mel was:

10 weeks: 17lbs

12 weeks: 21lbs

16 weeks: 32lbs

6 months: 47lbs

1 Year: 58lbs

Max Adult weight: 63-65lbs

Oliver is 15.2lbs at 18 weeks

He was estimated to be 20-22lbs by his breeder.

What are your thoughts?

His mom is a 21lb GD, and his dad a 10lb poodle

Sounds like you are going to have a little guy!  Kona trended towards his smaller dad.  His dad is a 20 pound miniature multi-gen Australian Labradoodle. His mom is a 40 pound F1B Goldendoodle.  Kona ended up to be 24 pounds and he maxed out right before the 8 month mark.  And the smaller the parents, the sooner the babies reach their full size.

Usually by the time they are 6 months (roughly 27 weeks), they've reached 65-70% of their adult weight and 80-90% of their adult height. Smaller dogs would fall on the higher end of that range, bigger dogs on the lower end of that range.

So even if we applied that now to Oliver, who is too young for it, he would be 21.71-23.38lbs. If we say that he'll be maybe 20lbs at 6 months (probably a fair guess, there is a fair amount of growth that will happen in next few weeks) then he'll wind up about 26.66-30.76 using the high end of that scale.

Genetically, dogs can be the size of their parents or any dog 3 generations back. So if your pup's mom is an F1 or F1b goldendoodle, there is still a fair bit of golden retriever in there that could bring him up higher than the weight of either of his parents.

At 5 months Rudi is 45lbs - the vet said he should be at least 70lbs. Time will tell.
Nicky is just over 5 months and 9.7 pounds. He's teeeeeny. Thinking he'll max at 15 pounds. Everyone is always shocked when we tell em it's a gd. Lol.

Dexter was 9 lbs at 8 weeks, 12.2 lbs at 10 weeks and 18.8 lbs at 13 weeks.  My big boy is growing too fast!!!!

Curious where you guys think Frankie will end up...

12 weeks - 13.4 lb.

17 weeks - 18.2 lb.

19 weeks - 19.8 lb.

We haven't been very good about recording her weight measurements, but she seems to have consistently grown about a lb. a week since we got her.  Her parents are both goldendoodles, which makes predicting a little tougher, but they are 40 lb. (mom) and 18 lb. (dad) for reference.  Breeder suggested about 30 lb. but most people seem to think that's on the low end and 40 lb. is more likely.

For reference, here is a pic of her last week at the dog park (hiding behind/in a bench):

(i.e., 40+ lb).

I'm guessing he didn't make it over 30 pounds.  What was his final adult weight?

Here is Rooster's weight update for comparison!  He started off pretty small- had loose stool issues- but has gained weight at a minimum of 2lbs a week since we got him!  I am wondering when he will slow down!  His father is a Standard poodle- 24 inches tall and 54 pounds.  His mother is an English Golden Retriever weighing 68 lbs.  We have fed him Simply Nourish Chicken and Brown rice dry large breed puppy food for the last few months, but we are getting ready to switch to a grain free food (Orijen or Acana).

8.5 weeks - 7.5Lbs

10 weeks - 10 lbs

13 weeks - 17.5 lbs

16 weeks - 28 lbs

18 weeks - 32 lbs (neutered here)

20 weeks - 40 lbs

25 weeks- 50 lbs

26 weeks (6 months on 7/30/14) - 54 lbs
