My Goldendoodle Ecco is 8 months old and since we live in Pa.he hasn't had a chance to swim yet. We are looking forward to summer and boating at the lake. If Ecco turns out to be a swimmer I'll need all the help I can get for grooming as I like to keep his hair long.

Samantha just turned a year 3 weeks ago. Her first real time in the water was 2 days at the beach. The tiny waves she would run from. Tide was extremely low and a sand bar was formed. I took her in there and she was in her glory. With the water just above her knees, her webbed feet truly shined tho she was really waling, not swimming. It wasn't really deep enough for that. But I just wanted to introduce her to the water just to have fun.
Now, once the warmer weather hits in NJ, what do you suggest I do to start her swimming? We do not have pool or access to one - it would just be the beach.
Thanks

Snickers, loves to swim we have a hard time keeping her out of the water when we're at the boat. She loves swimming out to retrieve a stick or a ball or just chaseing birds in the water. When nite time comes she is so tried you can't even move her she is out for the count.

The saddest day for Mercedes every year is when our pool is closed for the season. In spring when we open the pool she is always first in. Plus we bought her own raft which she will gladly get on and relax. When she was a puppy I taught her always to go in and out by the stairs so the liner would not get damaged. It's great where ever you throw the ball into the pool she will run around and use the stairs. Amazing

My two absolutely LOVE the water. We had to move and this house does not have a pool.. right now all they have is a small kiddie pool in the yard. Don't know what we will do come summer!!! The other house I had ALL the furniture covered with beach towels because we could not keep them out of the pool and then they would come running in doing the race thing from furniture piece to furniture piece... not so bad, everyone else just thought I was nuts, but could not deny them access to the water when it was 110 outside!!! Taking them to California to the beach for the first time this weekend..Can't wait to see their reaction! By the way, I used to spray them down once a day with a product called Miracle Coat Leave in Conditioner and them brush them down. It has Tea Tree Oil in it and keeps their coats soft and manageable! Coco's coat is soft and tends to want to mat and I keep it a medium length and Bri tends to have dry skin. This product prevents both problems, so if you are having similar problems you might want to try it. I get it at Petsmart and also use it after bathing them...Bye

I couldn't down load a picture for some reason. If you want to see the wet rat look ,you can check out my page, until I figure it out. :-)

Mater loves to swim! What a fun group to have. We are grateful we don't have a pond or pool in our yard. I keep his coat long and it would be a nightmare if he could swim whenever he wanted! He did discover the low spot in the yard that fills in heavy rains. If we don't catch him, he'll be out running through the puddle, rolling in it, and generally making a soaking muddy mess of himself. Then he races into the house full of joy and splashing mud on everything within ten feet!

Well, Cotton does not seem to care that it is December. I looked out yesterday and she was in the pool taking a lap. True it was in the 60's but we have seen several nights in the past week with lows in the 20's. Wish I could have gotten a pic of her.
