I just got back from taking Alma (Tula/Micah 3/26/09 litter) to an Animal Vision Center.  The vet informed me that she is completely blind.  He diagnosed her with Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration.  There were small signs starting a few years ago, like having to turn on lights at night so she could see to go into our bathroom where she preferred to sleep on the cool tile.  In July her fetching ability became an issue.  In the last 4 weeks her vision has deteriorated rapidly.  It is obvious that she can no longer see as she navigates her way around the house.  She is not in any pain.  She is eating and drinking normally and seems in good spirits.  I am now her seeing-eye-human as we adjust to this new normal.

I'm so sorry to hear about Cooper.  I remember him when we went to pick out Alma.  The litter was in a pen on the grass.  We knew we wanted a female so Shelly only brought the girls out.  Cooper was the darker of the males and he kept pawing at the gate so he could join us.  I think he felt left out.  Shelly went over and picked him up and held him.  It was so cute.  May he rest in peace.  My thoughts are with you.

Kristi, I am so sorry to hear about Cooper. He was so lucky to have chosen you for his family. Sending you hugs. Cooper will be in our hearts just like his older brother Kachi.

Happy 8th birthday to the rest of the 2009 Tula/Micah pups

Oh, Kristi, I am so sorry for your loss. How very sad. These Almond Blossom doods are very special - so sweet and smart. Cooper was very lucky to have shared his life with you and your husband.

Happy birthday to the March Tula/Micah siblings! (I can hardly believe Toby will be 9 years old in September!)

Happy birthday to all the 2009 Tula/Micah puppies. In February Cooper crossed the rainbow bridge. His epilepsy and cluster seizures unfortunately took its toll. In October when he started his 5th med the neurologist told us that he considered him end stage epilepsy. The next 4 months were great with him being like his old self and no bad clusters. Unfortunately the monster of bad clusters returned and we decided it was time to let him go. Even with everything he had been though he was still great with all dogs, people and kids. He had such great calm energy. When we first went to get our puppy we intended to get a female. But this little guy trotted over to me husband and sat down and looked at him saying I pick you. We were fortunate that we could financially handled his meds and numerous hospializations. The four year battle with the monster is ver and he is finally at peace. We miss him so much but have his ashes and his spirit with us. Please give his brothers and sisters a hug and kiss from us on their 8th birthdays. Kristi
