maybe she needs a sweater or wrap her in a blanket. Bandit gets sooo cold sometimes even though is coat is getting longer and he loves to snuggle in blankets and he has a sweatshirt:)

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I am going to post a picture of my dear Katier. I can tell you I don't know if she really likes it. She has been acting pretty strange. She has been potty trained for a while now and she has gone to the bathroom 3 times in the house. She also has NEVER slept on a bed or gotten on the furniture and now we can't get her off. She wants to cuddle up. I think because she is cold. She has started to really itch around her ear and I am taking her to the vet tomorrow to see if there is anything else I can do for her. I appreciate a forum like this to see that I am truly not alone.

My Seamus seems to really love being cut down. I too didn't ask for it and was surprised and disappointed. But I then realized I could rub his back and it felt like Velvet, Black Velvet, no less. So I keep him clipped down short for about 6 months of the year and then when he starts to look like a wooley sheep, it's time again to be clipped down.

I get Callie cut VERY short for the summer. It's not my favorite on her, but she's SO happy after the cut!!!

It will grow on you, I promise! I shave my Doods down twice a year because we live in an area where they can get foxtails. I like to shave them because I can get a really good look at their skin. We don't often get to examine their skin so it can be a good thing. Plus, they seem to really like being shaved down.
I read a forum for groomers once and they really trashed the Doodle owners, saying that we are stupid, that we want "scraggly" looking dogs and that they enjoy doing things to make our dogs "look better"...so I suggest that you keep looking for a groomer who appreciates and respects you as a customer and your dog as a beautiful creature. They are out there! :o)
In the meantime, be happy...it will grow back...take this time to really pet your dog...they love the close feel of your hand on their skin when they have shaved coats.

I shave my down for the summer too, he loves to swim and it much easier to deal with short, but i also love him in his full beautiful coat!!

I live in SWFL, and we get Jack cut very very short during the summer. I love it when his coat is long & beautiful in the winter, but I don't mind it "shaved" either.... And he's happy either way!!!

Alliemom,
I get all 3 of my doodles shaves...and its the best thing I've done for them :) They don't get as dirty, or matted (even with daily brushing)...I bet you will learn to love the buzz cut...look at my 3 boys...they look great

Alliemom..dont fret, we have all been there hun!
I went thru 4 groomers before I found one that would NOT shave down my dood.
I have found many groomers dont want to take the time to groom, they want small easy to care for dogs and when one of our doods walks in its overwhelming an so they just shave em.
our dood is my daughters service dog so we are approached by pple all the time, so I started asking around and I found a groomer that specializes in doods!!! right here in rural NW Iowa even! I am thrilled an he never gets shaved down anymore. I call her his stylist :)
keep searching, you will find someone that respects you and your dood :)
