Simon BEFORE summer haircut

Simon AFTER summer haircut...

She looks so cute! Their hair grows so fast that in 2 weeks her face will fill out.

Lucy is adorable! I remember when I got Beau's first summer haircut....I cried the whole way home from Petsmart.......but everybody kept telling me how great he looked, and I got used to it. Yes, that baby puppy look will never be back again.....but it gets replaced by other, just as disarming and lovable looks and memories....I hope you took lots of pictures and videos! They become more and more pricless as time marches onward. Mine are stuck in my old computer *^@%#^&*$! Here is my sweet BeauBeau with his summer cut just the other day at 4 yrs old

Lucy just got trimmed to 1/2" for the Summer. I'm a little heart broken that so much of her face's character is gone with the short cut. But, I know from experience that the facial hair grows so fast, it won't be long at all before she's back to her former self. BTW, Lucy is 8-1/2 months old and 44lbs.

Here's Lucy BEFORE:

And here she is AFTER:

Chili only stays this clean for an hour or 2.. sometimes minutes which is a bummer because washing and drying (especially drying) takes hours.....

Not sure if this is working...trying to submit my white doodle pic of Angel or Miss Ang. If this doesn't work, we'll try again...

Knowing how bad non-shedding dogs will mat, I brush/comb my doodles every night.
The problems with Simon's coat started, tho, when his coat change did. :-/ I'm looking forward to a few months (year even) down the road when his adult coat is set and I can go back to his long hair and nightly brushing. :-)

Any non-shedding coat will mat. Guaranteed. Purebred poodles have wool coats, and they mat like nothing you're ever seen.

I hadn't had any trouble with matting w/Simon's spiral coat until his puppy-to-adult coat change started about a month ago. I'm not sure how old Lucky is, but Simon's dad's breeder told me when Simon was about 6 months old, to look at the roots and about 2" out and that is what the adult coat will look like. Simon's baby hair was somewhat wavy, but his spirals grew from the roots out. :-)
Simon at 7 months...

It seems that the spiral coat mats easily and the tighter wooly curl does not (at all?). Lucky is tight curl at the base and then sticks straight out at the ends, like static. It's so cute and I wonder if it will grow back like that after we trim her for the first time. Any thoughts or experience with this?
