I do miss the angel-hair wispy puppy coat, however when Phoebs is groomed, her hair is like cotton candy. We take her to the dog park and everyone wants to touch her. Good thing she loves that! Love the long hair, but we will probably have to cut her back when we hit triple digits ...:-(

Simon's coat is spiral fleece and I brush him just about every day. The mats came up overnight. It was terrible! His hair was about 4-5" long and it looked sooo pretty, then THE CHANGE started....I know he was miserable with me trying to comb/demat him day after day, so cutting him down seemed like the only logical thing to do. He looks kind of like a little lamb to me now. :-)

Deborah, I hear ya on the grooming part of a short cut. Lucy's long coat took me forever to wash and dry. She hasn't started her coat change yet, but I want to be ready for it when it starts. Surprisingly, Lucy hasn't had any mats thus far, and she has a woolish coat. I do try to brush her with a Les Pooches brush every couple days though. Good to know the short cut will help in controlling mats during the coat change!

Hey Debb - Simon's about 1-1 1/2". When this coat change is over, though, we're going back to his long, natural spirals. He looks sooooo little now. :-) He is much easier to groom and NO MATS! yay!!

Deborah, is that a 2" cut on Simon? It looks longer than Lucy's 1" cut, but still the same silhouette. He looks very regal!

Lucy is cute as a button...her 1st haircut looks almost identical to Simon's.
