Just found this group...very interesting!  I'm anticipating a new pup in July!  Can't wait.  Reside in Bucks County, PA.  Looking for future "Romp" connections!

Debbie that is so great, I guess he must be some kind of guy that FIL of yours, lol..Good for them, I think it is wonderful that he is married and happy. My FIL died at age 58, and my MIL wouldn't even date. She said he was the love of her life, and that was that. I often wonder if she had remarried if she would have stayed married. She was and is very independent, smoked till she was 97, lol, and she was always on the go...I do believe thats why she has lived so long...

Wow cheryl...100 years old...my FIL is 93 and just got married for the 4th time to a lady he met in his retirement home who is 94!! ( he has been widdowed 3 times) He had his own apartment and went downstairs for his meals and after he fell in love with Mary they decided to get married as living together was not an option for either of them...so now they have a lovely two bedroom apartment together. Both of them are exceptional mentally and he still beats my husband in a game of "crib". We can only hope to have their health and longevity! BTW... we take the doodle there all the time and my FIL and new MIL adore him. Apparently (we heard this from my SIL) they talk about Thomas our doodle all the time to the rest of the family and friends.

When my both boys graduated college, they returned twice to the nest over the net couple of years, till they finally got themselves situated where they were in the jobs they wanted and the area they wanted. I will admit it was nice to have them back, but after the first month I was ready for them to go, lol...To this day *I miss the tumult and business of the house when they were here, but now I love when they come with their wives and my grandchild, but it is nice when they leave too...We just spent a week with all of them, my MIL turned 100 yrs old, and we had a big party for her in New Jersey. She has her full faculties, and had a wonderful time at her party...Can u believe she lives alone, still cooks, and loves to shop. we took her car away at age 95, lol, and I don't think she has ever forgiven my SIL or my husband for that...

Linda, congratulations on your son's new job! A good home gives children the security to venture away from the nest. Good Luck!

I guess empty nests are an on again off again thing.

Robin, after getting his masters my son moved back home to start a job (a year and half ago). He is packing up today and leaves at 6 am moving to Austin. I'm an empty nester again!

Oh Robin, at least she has the full time job part down.

My daughter graduated this May and moved home with a full time job. I guess I'm not an empty nesty anymore?

Excited to see this group! While my husband and I have had an empty nest for a few years now, we have never been without a pet until the past few months. I couldn't be happier with our decision to become doodle owners and I am so happy to have found the DK community.
