i was hoping for feedback from others as well
I did reply to your comment in the other group, but as I said there, a puppy who sheds at 4 months is not going to stop shedding as an adult. The coat does change, but it doesn't ever go from shedding to non-shedding. In fact, the opposite is true. There are doodles who didn;t shed as pups who do shed as adults.
I hope that your breeder did not promise you a non-shedding dogs, and I also hope that you can learn to live with Dexter's shedding. He is really cute!
HI there! I am new to this site as of yesterday. I found it as I was googling "Help! my Doodle sheds beyond belief!" I was so happy to hear that other doodle owners are having this same problem. My husband and I had done a ton of research on the bread and finally after two years of waiting, a 12 hour drive, and a a couple thousand dollars later we have a bbbbeeeeeaaauuutiful golden retriever….i mean golden doodle! We LOVE him, but hate the shedding! Any suggestions out there. I am hopeful his coat will change, as I have heard it goes though many cycles. Any words of advice would be much appreciated! THANKS
!

Fran, I'd expect her to continue to shed like this. Sometimes the shedding slows down after the coat change, but she's way too young to be having a coat change.
My Labradoodle is also a very heavy shedder. I wouldn't trade him for anything. :)
JD has full furnishings, too, but he sheds like crazy, and it's 24/7. I don't think the presence of furnishings means non-shedding, but the absence of furnishings usually does mean they will shed.
I'm used to purebred dogs, whose coats are always the same all over, so these mixes with different kinds of coats on the same dog is still a mystery to me, lol.
I think this is such an interesting thread about shedding. Owen has furnishing on his face but is a light shedder. He actually sheds less than he did as a pup. The thing is I think he sheds from his flat areas of coat and not from his curlier areas. The differences in his coat are quite remarkable. Maybe I'm wrong but that is what I thought, too. He even has a few patches of white fur that are different from every other part of his coat and they dry almost instantly making poofy white patches on an otherwise wet cream doodle. I love doodles!
Personally, I don't think there is such a thing as a "partial shedder", lol. It's kind of like a "little bit pregnant". There are dogs who don't shed at all, dogs who shed lightly and dogs who shed heavily; mine sheds heavily, all year round. But I don't think it matters which part of the body the hair comes from, lol. When there's hair all over the floor, it still has to be vacuumed, whether it came from his back or his legs.
How you will know for sure whether the hair on his back doesn't shed is if it keeps growing and growing and getting much longer than the hair on the other parts of his body.
I can pretty much guarantee you that he will be a shedder. Almost all open faced doodles are.
