Carrie -- You might also want to post this as a discussion on the main page.  You might get more responses that way.  You might also try a search on sweepers or vacuums or pet vacuums or something along those lines as I know at some point we have talked about vacuums.  I personally use a Swiffer Sweeper Vac on my wood floors.  It is a rechargeable, cordless vacuum which is why I like it.  It has the regular Swiffer pad on it but also sucks up stuff as you go as well.   They cost under $40 and you can usually find a $5 off coupon on line.  The battery isn't going to last forever, but it really doesn't cost that much to get a new one.  I find when they are brand new I can get through my whole house with it but as it gets more and more use the charge doesn't last quite as long.  I just hold on to my old one and that way if one runs out I still have another one to finish up.  As for getting the hair off your furniture I have found the best thing that works for me is just a good ole lint brush.  I use the tape kind where you just use it and tear it off.  I'm not sure which type doodle Chance is as your page is set to private so I couldn't see your write up, but if it is the more Lab type of coarse hair that is tough.  My Mom & Dad have a Lab and getting the hair up is a challenge.  The Golden hair is a little easier to get up with the lint brush.

I'm new here and could use all the help I can get. What do you recommend for hardwood floors (ben using a regular broom and that is not working out) and furniture? Chance sheds puppy hair everywhere. He's not even allowed back in our hall/bedrooms, yet hair is all in out bed. When I try to vacuum the hair off the sheets, it won't come with my vacuum. I found a handheld vacuum with awesome reviews for pet hair but I wanted to get some advice here.

I have a 3 year old F1 LD that sheds a bit and a 2 year old multigen whose Dad was an ALD, he does not shed at all.  I am not allergic to my F1 but I am allergic to the mutligen.  Just goes to show that coat type and shedding has nothing to do with allergic reactions!!

Carol, the previous owner probably lied because she was worried that you would not take Maggie if you knew that she shed, or she has multiple dogs and really is not sure which ones shed.

We adopted Maggie from IDOG in October. She is a three year old and was a re-home. We were told by the previous owner that she did not shed just a bit when brushed...NOT! Since adopting her we find tufts of fur everywhere. She is an F1b as is our other doodle, Tanner, who does not shed a lick. I am not upset about the shedding but just wonder how could the previous owner not noticed?

Helen, what did your groomer say about Chester's coat? How did you like his cut? He is magnificent.

Toby, the blonde is my shedder, whilst Chester, the red chap seems to hang onto his coat...

Chester is off to the groomers today, I will talk with Lisa whilst I am there. It is a completely different type of hair that is taking over on his body and tail. His legs remain much softer.

Tori doesn't shed on furniture or clothing, but at times I find little dust bunny type wisps of hair on the floors... especially lately... maybe it's more of a seasonal change... I have read that fish oil is helpful for coats... Tori's coat seems a bit dry too - it's soft like bunny hair, but almost like broken,,,, I plan on trying the fish oil too

We use EPO and I think it helps - especially our Springer Spaniel. Ned's coat gets frayed from brushing but I usually need to brush before I can comb. I use a good brush but damage is damage. Clancy's coat doesn't damage with brushing - good old-fashioned dog hair but it has gotten thinner but that is probably the good old-fashioned dog hair shedding.
