I have to admit I was a little unsure of shaving Jake at first but he was just getting so hot and his adult coat was starting to grow in and mat and he didn't really enjoy me ripping them all out every night.. now I'm glad we did!  His coloring is so beautiful underneath all the fluff we might just keep him this short most of the year... he seems to like it better and it's much easier to look for ticks after hiking!  Right now he's about 1/2" long all over except the tail and ears which were trimmed to match.

Mitzi got her "summer do" last week.  She went in the pool four times yesterday!  It is a pleasure to be able to dry her in ten minutes!   I call it her swim suit!  Her coat

is probably a little over 1/4 inch long.

Well after the shock of no hair is over we are totally loving Daisy's new do...especially after one day of daycare in the mud. Previously we would have to take her directly to the bath, this time she needs a bath but it waited until today, Saturday and after playtime with Dad.

Aimee...good luck with the grooming.  I can't believe that Ayla loves having her feet groomed.  That is Gracie Doodle's least favorite and she hates to have her front legs touched.  She gets this jerky twitch thing going.  She is better if she is standing on her legs rather than laying down where they are floppy.  Silly girl...I would love to have her enjoy the foot trims!  post pictures

It's great to read everyone's grooming experiences here .  I am going to attempt my 1st trimming of Ayla.  She seems to love getting here feet groomed, and so far, no complains when getting brushed.  I have been a hairstylist for 16 yrs now.  I am excited to learn to trim her hair!   I have been looking at lots of photos & vids- so i'm hoping to just trim off 1 " off, for starters.  She's now 2  3/4 " long now.   This does'nt seem long, tho- but just some of the ends look like they need it!  :)     I'll be sure to take a before and after shot.

Hopefully it's okay that I joined... I'm sort of a half member. I cut Darwin down to about 1/2", three times a year or so. Basically, as soon as his hair grows out too long. I should cut it more often but it's quite the undertaking. :-)

Welcome, Karina!  Glad you and Rosie found this group.  Poor baby after the beach!

i love this group. this is how i feel, keeping my Rosie short is soooo much easier than long and matted hair. once after a beach trip she matted to the skin and the haircut took 16 hours and under a couple of mats there were little red itchy spots. People sometimes tell me that doodles are more pretty but they have no idea what the grooming costs are and the brushing requirements are...oiii

Welcome, Edward.  Butter is adorable.  I love his action shots in your other posts.  Even though you don't have to use clippers or scissors to achieve his "look," you're welcome here.  Heck, if you've ever had someone say, "What kind of dog is THAT?" you'll feel at home.

I get curly coated retriever a lot.  Actually, this dog might be Porter's twin.
