I took Ayla to the vet the other day and was given meds & canned ID food . She had eaten some bad mud a week ago. She is getting me up at 1am, 3am- so at 3:30am I feed her to get her to sleep!…Continue

To be Loved & Wanted

Posted on April 3, 2011 at 9:38am 8 Comments

The first week of Ayla in our lives seems like such a long time ago- but only 2 months have passed   She was a scared, shy, untrusting pup. I wondered, will she ever show any affection for me ( like me) at all?    Being a mom of an autistic child , you learn to accept that when your child does'nt show any emotions ( or does'nt know how to express emotions the same way)  towards you.  You live with that.   But having a pup generally not wanting to play with me was sad, at the beginning.    It's… Continue

Why does'nt he just pick up?

Posted on March 22, 2011 at 11:57pm 9 Comments

Our backyard has a big field that is used in warmer weather for playing volleyball, playing catch with my 3 children, and we have a swingset there too.  This would have been a wonderful place for my 2 pups to run and play in.

SInce we have 2 pups upstairs, i have been potty training them in our front yard, and been cleaning up after them. We have children & i make it a mission to get our lawn looking (smelling) clean!

We now have a renter for our downstairs studio who…

The Grass is always greener

Posted on March 21, 2011 at 11:30am 10 Comments

It's officially spring here in Seattle . The plants are sprouting, the birds are chirping, and it's not as chilly as it once was. It's getting a bit warmer, and now you can easily smell things.   It makes it easier to get up and actually go on the walking trail nearby and walk the pups.  Yes, my front lawn ( a small patch of grass)  has suffered dearly the past few months of potty training & sensitive belly issues.  I am on a mission. To stay clear of our front lawn . Entirely.    I would… Continue

Silent Storm at the Dog Park

Posted on March 13, 2011 at 11:06pm 10 Comments

I was very apprehensive about Storm's first visit to the dog park.  He was just learning to not bark at strangers on our nearby walking trail. At home, Storm barks at all our neighbors, and the mailman. I would have to plan this thoroughly.

I decided to take Storm alone. On a monday. Late morning, right during luch time. When it rained a little. Thinking, there would be no one at the dog park.

Okay, there were 2 other people there with a total of  5 dogs off leash.  And 4…

Rosie has Addison's disease. It is very common in poodles and of course got into the doodles lines in a big way. Addison's is diagnosed when a dog almost dies. If you notice at first longer naps and less energy, less and less apetite to a point of no interest of food...go to the vet and ask if it could be Addison's. Rosie spent 4 days at the hospital. It turns out the breeder knew that one of Rosie's dads children recently had an episode and neglected to tell all of his children. Also this disease comes from both mother and father. We were shocked, scared...it was aweful. Rosie is not on a daily steroid...dose still dropping and a monthly shot.  Hope your guys are doing well. They are soooo cute.
