I saw this video on the news today and it was so moving that I just had to share. It is about a man who has Alzheimer's Disease and has lost his speech, but when he interacts with his daughter's dog,…Continue

I just saw a segment on TV tonight about the thousands of dogs that are being abandoned in the Everglades. Abandoning an animal is unacceptable under any circumstance, but this is extreme cruelty…Continue

I know this has been a discussion, but when I looked the posts seemed older. Today the vet said Lily's vulva was inverted, and he wanted to wait until after her first heat to spay her, as it may self…Continue

We fell in love with Hudson the moment we met him and have wanted another Doodle ever since. We decided that this was the right summer. 1/2 of me is soooo excited and the other 1/2 keeps thinking,…Continue

We have had Lily for 2 weeks now and she is doing great. One thing I forgot about in the almost 3 yrs we have had Hudson, is that toilet paper on the roll is the most facinating toy. What fun it is to grab and run with it trailing behind you! I'll have to remember to keep the bathroom door shut or the toilet paper off of the holder and up higher. Hudson is playing well with Lily now and it is fun to watch. Having a puppy with an older dog is a bit easier because Hudson helps out. Lily is a…

Lily came home yesterday! She is so sweet. So far, she is really laid back and easy going, but also curious and confident. Potty training has been great- no accidents as of yet. When Hudson arrived as a puppy it was December, so I'm really liking the fact that going out every 20-30 minutes isn't quite as painful or as difficult (minus all of the winter gear). She slept in her crate last night from 12-7:30 without a whimper. I was surprised (but happy) about that. Hudson isn't so thrilled…

What funny things do your doodles do to demand your attention? Hudson never gets into anything. We are very lucky because even as a puppy he rarely got into anything. He does, however, take items of interest (usually pens/pencils) and will sit close by with it hanging out of his mouth. He usually just sits like a statue by the sofa and stares in your direction, trying to get you to look at him. Once in awhile he will do a walk by with the forbidden object, with a glance upwards of his eyes…

My dad fell about 3 weeks ago and suffered a bleed to his brain. He was doing well and was released from the hospital, but started gettting worse about a week later. He lost a lot of his speech and had numbness in his arm and face. Luckily he has improved greatly, but is now in a nursing home/rehab center for rehabilitation. They allow dogs to visit! :) I would like Hudson to be a therapy dog one day, so it was exciting to be able to take him. He handled everything he encountered (wheel…

Thanks for correcting me. I total misread the comment. Yikes!
Angie ~ I am so sorry to hear you lost Samson - darn it, they are never with us long enough. And, I just saw your post of the new little boy - Hudson. He is very cute. Looking forward to seeing lots of photos.

Hudson is adorable!
hi Angie, thanks for the comment. That's a really good point you raised.. I'll ask about it!
Hi Angie, it must be Spring Break... I can always count on hearing from you during breaks!
You know, Tim and I discussed whether to take Oscar off leash at the beach, it being his first time and all, and it really just happened that Tim took his leash off when we got to the beach. No discussion at that point. And it all worked out. I DO think Oscar got into too much stuff when Tim took Lucy and Oscar to the beach each morning (I have a feeling Tim wasn't diligent about pulling foreign material out of Oscar's mouth), as Oscar developed a bad case of recurring vomiting the last night we were there (which continued into the next night). The vet could find no real reason for the vomiting and it just naturally resolved itself a few days later. So that is my only reservation to Oscar being off leash. He stuck close to Lucy (and they ran and wrestled the entire time) and they were in their own separate worlds, oblivious to anything else around them.
Control freak?? I have NO idea what that is... lol ... just joking... I've been accused of that more than a few times myself :)
Our weather will be in the 70's this weekend into next week. I am sooo looking forward to warm weather! It would be so nice if our back yard was dry enough for the dogs to run back there, but it would be a mud hole in no time (our property sits on a hill and the backyard inevitably gets water drain off from the church parking lot above). July-August are the only months they can really enjoy running in the back yard.
Hope you're having a great break!
Hi Angie! Its always good to hear from you! Oscar IS really big, or at least, for a 6 mo. old puppy, anyway. At his last weigh in, a couple weeks ago, he was in the low 40's, but he's no doubt in the mid to high 40's now. So far, he's not as tall as Lucy, but his feet are much bigger and he can wear Lucy's rain and winter wear. We just returned from the beach today after spending several days at Cannon Beach, OR. The doods had a blast chasing each other. This was Oscar's first beach trip and he didn't seem to notice the ocean one bit! He was more focused on playing with Lucy than anything else. Both he and Lucy are passed out in their crates right now. I have a feeling they're going to be recovering from all the activity for days to come. I took my camera and Flip video but always forgot it in the room so I didn't capture any of the action. I feel bad for that. Oh well, there's always next time. Lucy is loving having a play buddy, but sometimes she prefers to be left alone and Oscar can be a handful for her at those times. He really is a mellow pup, and we can only hope that as he matures he'll mellow even further and get to where Lucy is with her 'laid back' ways. How are Lily and Hudson doing? What do they do when you take them off leash ? Or is 'off leash' the norm for them at your home/property?
Happy Birthday Angie! Hope your day is wonderful and lots of fun:)
Hi Angie! Finally, I had a few minutes to get some pictures and a video (Lucy and Oscar playing together) downloaded. Check out my page. Also, I wrote a blog about Oscar's 1st 4 days with us. Its awaiting approval, but should be up by Sat. a.m. What an adventure this has been!
