Auggie is 8 months old today. Where did the time go? He's been home for 6 months already and I'm happy to report that I'm still alive. :-) As you know the first few weeks were really hard for me. But fortunately, puppies grow fast and the humans get used to the chaos eventually.
Auggie still loves to terrorize his older brother Monty and to destroy the backyard. But, he has grown into a very sweet puppy (you can tell this especially when he is separated from his brother). Being used…

Several months ago I was minding my own business when Lynda Kamrath sent me a message asking me to send her some favorite photographs of my dogs taken by my daughter. She was interested in seeing some of my daughter’s photographs, but I noticed immediately she did not ask to see any of my work. She offered to print up our favorite photo as a giclee. Even though I wasn’t sure what a giclee was, I knew I had to have one. …

Lately our dood is just out of control. Well, it's not that bad, but in the heat of the moment, it seems pretty darn bad to us. As you all recall, last Tuesday morning when I left for school, the Milt ripped into my mitten. Well, on Friday morning when I left, our doodle went for Daddy's shoes, once again.…

First a follow-up: All my whining and “sniveling” last week seemed to chase away the wintery white stuff we were told would bury us under. Not one mere flake fell in our area, HOWEVER, Jack Frost isn’t finished with us yet, this week we are expecting frigid, low temperatures for many days – Yikes! But it will be dry. Freezing – but dry – I’m happy!
Now let me tell you about the weekend…
The boys have a…

Hard to believe that little Myla is 5 today! Time flies by so fast. She's been a little spitfire from the beginning and that's why we love her so much! Chloe loves her too, but she's always looking at us wide eyed like Myla's crazy! I had off of work today and we just layed on the couch watching stuff on our DVR that we have fallen behind on. We couldn't go anywhere with them since it's 4 degrees out so after dad got home we gave her her…

So.. Luna's coloring makes her look a bit like a lion and one day one of my students saw a picture of her and thought her paws looked like lion paws.
Luna paws:
Lion paws: (I think I see the resemblance but Luna's are of the dainty princess size)…

“Oh My God he’s so cute”- “Look Madge it’s a Seeing Eye Dog”-
Those are just some of the things I hear as I walk thru a public place with my Service Dog Milo. It’s been quite an education getting used to having him with me. And some of the things I hear and see people do would fill up a book I’m sure. I have to say 85% of the time we get nothing but kindness from the…

When i come home every day, my doodle is there and always happy to see me. i set down my stuff and say, Oliver, come give me a hug!. so he comes to me, and throws his head on my shoulder and give me a big hug. then he backs away and looks at me, smiles, and wags his tail at me. I just love coming home to this. no matter how tough the day was, when i come home and see Oliver, i forget all about the due dates and things. How can you not love that? I'm glad Oliver's previous owners…

Lyric is due in exactly three weeks! She is so big I am beginning to think there are two litters in there--compared to last time, when she had 8, she seems bigger at this stage of the pregnancy. But, it is probably just my mind playing tricks on me.....she is eating well now that we found out that pregnant doggies LOVE Freshpet Select, which is refrigerated and expensive--I don't mind buying it for a month or so though if it keeps the weight on--she eats better after noon, so I feed her a…

A couple of months ago I made a HUGE announcement that our Vern was starting to lift his leg when he peed. I was shocked that our big news was not met with more hoopla and congratulations, but instead the news was met with a couple of “Big Whoops”, a few “Get a Life”, and one “Who Cares?” There were a few people who congratulated Vern on growing up, so I thought an update was in order. I am not going to say that Vern lifting his leg might have just been a fluke and my announcement may have…

Yesterday afternoon those worrisome weather reports started breaking through my “regularly scheduled program” to inform us about a “Winter Storm Watch” headed straight for my backyard!
By dinner time, more reports came in, bellowing specific words from the television like: “accumulation – heavy at times – throughout the night.” If the goal among networks was to cause DM (doodle momma) to panic – they succeeded.
Last winter was very…

When Jeff and I were in upstate New York for Christmas, I kept telling Jeff how "blessed" and "lucky" we were to get plummeted with snow while on holiday. Now that I am a quasi-Southerner, not by birth but by association, snow is practically nonexistent. That is until about an inch of snow hit the ground Tuesday morning. I was up bright and early, 4A.M. to be exact, working on writing all 94 of my individualized student progress report comments, when I heard rain droplets tinkling outside…

I was fortunate enough to meet a DK member (Jennifer and Darwin) in Duncan's last obedience class who had such wonderful things to say about this romp last year. I'm so excited to be going this year!

A couple of months ago Julie, Boomer, and Milo, posted in the Photography Group that she was looking for photographers and doodles to model collars for her Etsy store. All we had to do was be willing to photograph our doodles wearing her collars and the collar was free. Well, several things convinced me I was the person for this job and that my doodles were perfect candidates for a modeling session, 1) the words free collar 2) I never miss an opportunity to exploit Fudge and Vern…

My very first full introduction to Milt as "ours" was when I arrived home from school on June 1st to find the Milt waiting for me, sequestered in the kitchen, and as I cooed his name, he immediately squatted and pissed all over our rug. Welcome home, Milt! Our new house, thankfully, is rugless, but I think our goldendoodle has had a rough time adjusting to this transition. You see, with recent temperatures in the '30s and '40s, little Milt dog has been quite cold on our hardwood floors. …

What happened?! I overslept. Plain and simple. I overslept. I don't know if the alarm clock malfunctioned or if it was Jeff and I who had the bad wiring. All I know is that it was 7:15A.M. when I woke up this morning, and that is precisely the time, if not earlier, that I need to be leaving for school. As I was dashing out the door, my mind flew to all my little students who would be waiting for me in my first period class, but I also was thinking about you, my readers, because this is…

As we prepared for our morning walk Friday, I told the boys (confession time – yes I talk to them), after breakfast they were going to day camp. Talk about an immediate reaction!
