Well Huff has found love again(sorry ladies hahaha). Huff has a very gorgeous girl with lots of leg. It all started when she came in for a self service bath. Right after her bath Huff and her played and played and played. They have so much fun. Huff actually pulls on her floppy lips but not hard enough to hurt her.:) Her name is Isis. She's a Great Dane, 7 months old, and…

Poor Murphy. Life used to be so uncomplicated and quiet before the Princess decended upon him.
Bella sees an unsuspecting victim. Can you see the wheels turning in that head?
Bella strikes and confiscates the poor victims property. "Mom! Bella is taking my…

The other day I went out and got Fudge and Vern identical bones. Vern gets so excited with anything new for about two minutes. As soon as he figures out Fudge has a bone or toy or anything, that is what he wants. Fudge uses this to her advantage and loves to sit close to him and chew away. Fudge is not a big chewer, but I swear if she knows Vern wants something she has, she makes sure to chew it just a little longer than usual. Vern will stop chewing his bone and lay his head down in the…

Sophie came home with me on Wednesday February 23, 2011. She is nine weeks old and is absolutely the best thing that has ever happened to me. She makes me laugh with her silly antics, and melts my hear when she runs to me and cuddles up in my lap. She loves playing with her toys and romping in the snow. Sophie bear is the most affectionate and friendly puppy…

My bad as I have not been blogging about either of our fosters, Kibby & Bitser. On January 27, I met Linda R at the GA/TN state line. Linda had just completed a 4+ hour round trip from Chattanooga to Jefferson City, TN to pull Kibbles & Bits from a high kill shelter (after suffering from a migraine the night before; what can I say...Linda is an angel).
Kibby & Bits were 2 of 10 dogs confiscated from an animal hoarder (10…

I received an email in my DK inbox from a member asking me how to donate money to the Doodle Rescue Collective. It seems that her 5 year just had a birthday party and instead of having friends bring gifts, this 5 year old asked friends to donate money to the DRC!! This is how it all came about.
I was telling my daughter about a recent Ohio rescue effort of about 150 dogs that I heard about. I just said that we don't know if all the dogs will survive given that there would…

Who knows how Banjo found out that it's that time of year....but last nite he indulged in a nice plate of waffles with syrup.
DH had just put a plate of waffles drenched in butter and maple syrup on the table (night time snack for himself) and went back into the kitchen to tease me (something he does relentlessly!)....well...he got his payback ...thanks to my little buddy Banjo! When he returned to his plate....guess who got there…

I spoke to Bella's Vet yesterday regarding her constant poop snacking. (Bella, not the Vet). She explained, like our breeder did, that it is a learned behavior, but instinctual as well, especially with females. It appears the mother dogs will clean up their litters poop in the wild so predators don't find the pups. She went on to say it was her way of protecting me from predators ( Gosh, I feel so protected now, thank…

Sixteen years ago today, even though I knew nothing about it at the time, Cole’ (Co-lee) was born. DH and I were trying to buy our current house which was a 35 mile commute to work for him as opposed to the 80 mile one way trip he was doing at the time. This house is in the country and I wanted to have a large dog to keep me company during the day and the several times a year DH had to be away from home for a week at a time.
As time neared for the move I still had not found my…

Rooney and I packed up our car on Thursday evening so that we could leave very early on Friday. I had gotten one of those new soft, folding crates, a new smaller dog bed and you add that to all the toys, food, dishes, snacks, poop bags, etc., I really felt like I was traveling with a small baby. Luckily for me there was still room for me to bring a few of my things - lol. I got up at 3:00 a.m. and Rooney was strapped into his car seat with his new American Tourister safety harness and we…
