Correcting a naughty behavior...

Yesterday, we were at the Grand Woofstock dog event in Escondido and got two adoptions.  However, we also made some contacts with a vendor for Dick Van Patten Natural Balance Food who will get us a good discount for our rescue efforts and with a dog trainer who is willing to help us with some dogs that have behaviors which make them hard to adopt.

COCOA HAS FOUND A "FUREVER" HOME

I took our darling Cocoa on a meet and greet to a prospective adopter's home last night.  What a wonderful experience. Cocoa was a perfect lady during the entire visit.  She was friendly and animated but also mellow and undemanding.  I was so proud of Cocoa and happy for her!

Why Rescues Have Rules!

Heidi is a four month old Maltese-Poodle mix.  Her owner called Judy before the owner found Heidi at a backyard breeder.  The lady wanted to adopt a puppy from us but, she was in her eighties.  Judy suggested that a puppy might not be a good match for her.  In fact, her doctor and her vet had recommended against her getting a puppy. Judy said that if she had a family member as a back up in case physical conditions prevented her from caring for a dog, that an older dog might be a better idea.…

Another trip to save a "Maltese?"

We got a phone call from the Barstow, California Humane Society saying that they had a 3.5 pound Maltese that was scheduled to be put down unless a rescue group came to pull him from the shelter.  We put a hold on the "Maltese" and I took the 160-mile trip from my home to Barstow.
