Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
There has been so much going on this week, and in a few short hours our doorbell will start ringing with the neighborhood trick or treaters. It will be a busy night, so I’ve decided to write a “summary” post …
We are grateful the storm did not destroy as much as it could have. Lots of frightening wind, but no structural damage or flooding in the surrounding neighborhoods. I am so happy to see the sun again. Leo is as well. Two days of no outdoor activity was getting to him.…

We took Toffee to the vets today to have her spayed. (I do not know if you use the same term used in the US but bascially she's had her lady's bits out).
It's late here in rainy Hertfordshire and I'm babysitting a very dozy pup !! She can't decide what she wants to do. Walking seems impossible at the moment, but I just wish she would sleep properly. I think she's worried we'll leave her.
We were quite fortunate, because of the weather, that we didn't have many trick or…

Meet our new family member Morgan Maye O'Doodle. She is a 6 mo. old GoldenDoodle we rescued through Golden Rescue South Florida. She is sweet and sassy and fitting in well with our retired Puppy Mill Mommy Brigit, her GoldenDoodle Boy Riley. We already love her soooooo much!

“The track of Sandy is now solidifying. This massive storm is set to deliver significant, and in some areas, record storm surge flooding through Tuesday.” This is the media warning message that’s been broadcasted the past few days.
It is now apparent the East Coast will NOT escape the fierce winds, torrential rain, and potential flooding Hurricane Sandy is expected to deliver.
I cannot help but think about my good friends in New Orleans, who,…

Bright and early tomorrow morning, 4:30A.M. to be exact, I am embarking on a grand adventure with 88 seventh grade students. Yes, that is correct. Along with 10 other chaperones, I will be spending five solid days on an island off the coast of California learning about ecology, the environment, and sustainability. My balmy days will be filled, morning to night, with hiking, swimming, snorkeling, rope climbing, and mainly monitoring all of my little charges.…

Hey everyone! Just got power back. It was a doozy. We were soooo lucky! My town is a mess but some how we personally escaped damage. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. I am sure that is why I am so blessed.
Everything is tied down. trees are blowing. just waiting for it to hit. We are next to a brook. So stress is high. Did everything we could to prevent damage. Waiting, waiting! hard to tell what will happen. Think positive thoughts…

About a month ago, Camilla (and Darwin) did a blog in the Photography Group and gave us instructions about how to take your own family photo. Camilla is a fabulous photographer and I knew if I followed her instructions to a T, I was going to get a great picture for our Christmas cards. Now, technically I was supposed to be taking our pictures, but as some of you may recall, I have a photographer daughter that can be bribed and threatened into helping. So, I guess you can say I followed…

I travelled yesterday with a friend, her DH and daughter to collect the puppies. We were so excited on the way it felt like we were heading to the maternity hospital. We were both worried that we would get the 'right' puppies as the breeder sounds a little tired at this stage...12 puppies in the house would stretch anyone! We didn't have to worry. I recognized both puppies, (there were four left) as I had taken lots of photo's and had committed to memory the bits that had been shaved in…

So the local (and huge) dog park opened, it's right behind the shelter I volunteer at. Well, today when I was at the shelter I noticed there was a bunch of doodles around! I had DH bring Darwin so he could play with them.
This adorable guy is available for adoption and was enjoying the park when I got there
and these two doodles who's owner…

Today Stuart ran his first 8k race, 4.97 miles. Stuart has been running with his dad because he is like the energizer bunny - we can't wear him out. Out of 150 runners he was the only dog! Of course everyone thought he was totally awesome and he got lots of cheering and attention. He even went to the after run breakfast and has some eggs, bacon and sausage.…

I was SO excited when I found out that I won the Les Poochs brush in the Pet Flow contest! I have been wanting one for so long but honestly I've never been able to justify the cost. It was exactly the prize I would choose to win, I can't even say how happy I was.
It came in the mail from Kemp (thanks for the advice on which brush Kemp!!) and I immediately took it out and started brushing Darwin. I was skeptical that it would be that much better than our current slicker (15…

I can't believe my girl is three already. She was born 10/27/2009. We found her right after DD's big wedding. It took us a year of planning and praying but we believe we found our perfect match.
No big celebration planned just some of Daisy's favorite things, the Park, some Chuck-it and a trip to the Specialty Pet Store to find her perfect toy.
Happy Birthday…

Week 5 and life is getting better all the time. Her weight is up and her mood is good and the vet says her health is great. Good food has made the dry skin go away and all the itching at night is gone. Skylar is warming to my boys and is sniffing strangers but still jumps away from them. All in all we are still headed in a positive direction.

This past Sunday, my husband, Duncan, and I participated in Paws for the Cause; A dog walk to benefit patient care and research at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. It was a fantastic event! We couldn't ask for more perfect weather, and we were surrounded by dog lovers and pet-friendly vendors. I can't wait to participate next year!

Milt is like a child to us, so when he has been a good boy, I like to reward him. This is especially true when Milton has been home alone bored all day while I am at school. A housebound dog necessitates a trip to Petco after work to alleviate some of the stress after a long, hard day of solitude. On that note, all Halloween toys are 50% of at Petco, so get them while they are hot! …

Somewhere between the intersection of “maternal protection” and “pet parent nurturing”, my clear, level headed thinking “collided” with my bonding and attachment concerns, shoving common sense and my ability to reason into a coma!
Don’t ask me exactly where I got the notion, probably on the “world wide web”, where I surmised once Harley came home to live with us, his crate should be in our bedroom. DH wasn’t exactly “feeling…

Here we are at the end of October.
Back in September we had a bit of an ear mite scare. The inlaw's dog got ear mites! Abel was being puppy sat by them for the weekend as we were out of town. Not only that but he sees her twice a week. We do not know where the ear mites came from. Abel was never actually diagnosed but we think…
