How is it that while Clark and I are trying to enjoy TV in the evening the doods put on a Wrestle-mania show that drowns out our speakers...but when I'm alone at the computer Rosco lies under the table and Boca collapses elsewhere and they are quiet little angels?
It's hard to believe but Miss Natalie turned ONE this Monday! Since a few of you wished her a Happy Birthday I thought I'd post a blog with some recent pics of the littlest love of my life.
This is her last week. She discovered this tray holder is a GREAT little toy but you'll see she doesn't really need it:
We had a little Birthday party with Mommy, Daddy, and Grandma and had a wonderful time last night.
I'm really happy you rescued me. These people you gave me are not bad. But, if possible, I'd like a re-write of the contract. At first I thought it was great that I got one of those 'Inside Families' with a cozy house and all. But I'm suffocating in here! They have this awesome backyard...full of sticks, and twigs, and toys, and bones, and smelly things! And SQUIRRELS...oh heavens, the SQUIRRELS! But my people are such sticks in the mud!
I am a fair weather kinda gal and thus a fair weather trainer...and I almost always HATE rain. Give me clear skies and sunshine, please!
But today I had a friend commit to meeting me out in the park and if SHE was willing to brave wetness (as long as it wasn't pouring) no way was I going to wimp out!
When we got there the rain was bearable...but it quickly became a torrential storm!
Just because I think she's the cutest thing. Clark was gone today so I made a video for him and here you can see some of her 'tricks':
Miss Nataliepoo is past the 9 month mark and enjoying crawling expeditions, pulling up on everything, playing with dog bones and dog toys and dog collars and everything else that's NOT a baby toy. She loves to give nice slobbery mouth kisses and slap the spoon away at solid-food meal times. She's got 4 teeth with likely… Continue
This Boca-girl is just the best little puppy ever! All my fears about getting a puppy with a baby seem like a big joke. She's so great! We've only gone on two walks because it's so darn hot, and she pulls like a banshee, but since we have a training plan for the near future it's not at all a concern. I just tie her leash to the stroller handle, hold Rosco's leash in hand, and stroll away with all my kids :-)
Today I got farther in desensitizing her to the nail dremel and I'm pretty… Continue
First Full Day Boca was super feisty in the morning...apparently she thinks my PJ's are lacking in puppy paw prints.
Not ONE accident since her arrival (KNOCK ON WOOD...please don't let my bragging jinx me). But that's because so far she's been always completely confined in the house: crated or in ex-pen near our kitchen, or tethered to a couch. She's done great with it and only occasionally whines/cries (like when I wanted to take a nap and… Continue
We're on our waaaaayyy :) I will put updates and photos into this blog as I'm able!
UPDATE #1 (12:53 pm PST): Diane called 10 min ago and reported they are on their way with Boca. She was happy, wiggly, tail wagging and seemingly unstressed. Diane said she is tiny but substantial :) Get ready Rosco!
Update #2 (3:28 PM PST): Oh MY DOODLE!!! She is a doll! Very sweet, relaxed, friendly and adorable. We met up with Diane and her hubby about an hour ago in a shopping complex and… Continue
Thank you all for taking the time to respond to my question last week. We really appreciated your thoughts! I said I wouldn't post any photos of puppies/litters until we came to a conclusion. After pondering the answer to this question, we decided it was either NOW or never (at least the 'never' that is equivalent to 4+… Continue
A friend of mine got a springer spaniel pup a couple months ago and we've been trying to get our dogs together but with bad weather, traveling, etc... it was only today we accomplished our goal. Bailey is 5 months old and seeing these pics of him playing with Rosco made me think of Ned/Clancy playing with their Springer Spaniel bro, Gordie, but with a size swap!…
I have only recently gotten over my puppy fever, deciding to wait until next year at the earliest (believe me I was tempted a few weeks ago to say "OK..let's get it THIS SUMMER!")
But with destruction like this...WHO NEEDS A PUPPY?…
Today we said goodbye to a dear friend: our beloved border collie, Cass.
Cass had been fighting a good fight but the bone tumors took over her body and quality of life. We were originally going to wait another week but Clark realized…
I have been trying to get back into jogging over the past couple months. Clark even got me a jogging stroller.... I've taken Natalie on a few jogs. And I've taken Rosco and Natalie on a few jogs. But this morning I thought it would be oh so nice to just go alone for a change. I waited until Natalie was tired enough to have her morning nap (just after 9am this morning), brought Cass in from outside.… Continue
Remember when I told you breeders it was time to move to Walla Walla? Remember when I offered you a Breeder Relocation Package to help make the move a smooth one?
I promised you I'd start making puppy socializers...and being a woman of my word, I made Natalie! How many more socializers do you need? Tell me. Cuz I'll get to work!
What I'm trying to say is I have horrible puppy fever (again!… Continue
Rosco went to the groomer once when he was about 5 months old. It was mostly just to get cleaned up...not a real 'hair cut' session. It went well, but I decided I'd do it myself. And I did for about 3.5 years. Before baby arrived I took him to PetCo for the first time to get 'cleaned up' again. Happy with the results and lacking 3-4 hours to spend grooming, I took him there again this Sunday. This time Clark, who likes Rosco long and shaggy, agreed it would be okay if he were trimmed down… Continue
Clark, Natalie and I got back from vacation today. We were gone for 17 days and are THRILLED to be back home! There's only so much packing/unpacking one can take! Natalie traveled very well. Our trip took us to Redding, California for a weekend with good friends. Next came Southern California to see my family for one week. At the end of our week we joined about 15-16 other doodle families for a romp at Bev's (&Willy) home. There we got to see GBK with her… Continue
Happy Birthday to my 'first' baby "Living Streams Robert ROSCO Redfur"!!! If it weren't for you there'd have been no DK! No immersion into the world of dogs and training and dingleberries! It's a bittersweet day as today would have been Thule's 5th birthday too.
I was thrilled when 4 years ago today I heard news that his mom FINALLY had the litter (2 months gestation back then felt awfully long!). Then 2 months later we brought home this cutie pie:
Forget Labradoodles and Goldendoodles, I'm creating a new hybrid. Way better than what's out there now. Will solve a lot of problems GD & LD owners currently run into and give poodle lovers an alternative! Get ready for...
