Well it's day 5 with Finnegan at home with us. Yankee is definitely warming up to him. He still plays a little too rough and I sometimes have to separate them. Finn is a bundle of energy, not at all what Yankee was and is like. He never stops which means neither do I. He tears around the house and Yankee gets excited and goes after him.
I took him to a nearby park and he ran in puddles, chased a ball and dug in the sand. Last night I gave each of the dogs a rawhide chew. Finn wanted…

Hi everyone. We got back today with our new puppy. We are exhausted from all the driving since we left at 6am yesterday and got home at 4:30 PM today. I did pick up the other lady's puppy, had no problems whatsoever.
We thought we had decided on a name but we tried calling him by it and I hate it already. MY son likes a certain name, my daughter a different one and my granddaughter yet a different one. DH and I have gone through about 20 different names and still none seem to…

Well, our fireworks are going off as we speak. Yankee was a little nervous at first and hovering around me. He was panting and seemed uncomfortable. I have been ignoring him so now he has gone to lay on the couch and watch me on the computer like he usually does.
It gets quiet for awhile and then the fireworks start again. I think he is getting used to it.

I want to know when I find out if my humiliation was worth it. When is the draw for the grooming supplies?
I hope none of my friends see this picture. I will never live it down.

My Mom has been trying to figure out how to win your contest. There are a lot of good entries so she wants to try and out-do them.
This is torture for me! She has done things to me that I DO NOT like. My doodle Dad keeps saying "you poor guy". I don't know if the other doodle parents are doing this to their dogs too but it isn't right. Next time you decide to have a contest, think about me. How about you ask for a 200 word essay or something like that. AND YES, I blame…

Well, Yankee and I went to the dog park this morning and I couldn't believe what I saw. There was a man walking his goat.....yes, a goat. It was on a leash and at first the dogs didn't seem to notice it until he stopped. Then a few dogs went cautiously over to try and get close enough to sniff it. It would move and they would all jump back including Yankee who gets scared by his own shadow. Then a couple of dogs tried again and it moved. They jumped back again. It was very amusing to…

I decided that Yankee needed more training before new puppy comes. He is (I thought) a pretty well behaved dog. I can walk him around the neighborhood without a leash and he listens very well. He just doesn't walk well ON the leash. The class is called Street Smarts and keeps your dog from being easily distracted in public.
Yankee's best friend Charlie Doodle is also in the same class. I was a little concerned that this might be distracting but we could work through…

Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good Dog.
1. I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.
2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell.
3. The Litter Box is not a cookie jar.
4. The sofa is not a 'face towel'.
5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.
6. I will not play tug-of-war…

I was parked at the dog park last week and found a flyer on my windshield that was advertising something about Laundromutt. I ignored it but today I was at the dog park and saw what it was all about. This lady has a truck with a big tank of water in the back as well as a bathtub. One side of the tub is cut down a little more than halfway and sits right on the back edge of the truck. She will come to your home or wherever and you can wash or just rinse your dog in her truck. She was in the…

I just returned from the dog park and I saw the cutest thing. A lady was there with her daycare kids having a little picnic. I know it's not the best place for kids but it isn't that busy on weekday mornings and they were having so much fun.
The kids were all girls, 2 or 3 years old, all wearing the same sun hat, sitting on the grass in a circle eating. The lady had 3 dogs with her, 2 shihtzu's and a labradoodle who were wandering around and playing and none of them were bothering…

Yankee's best friend Charley has been under house arrest after contracting a contagious disease. They finally got back together today at the dog park after 6 weeks apart. They have been playing together for a year, 3 or 4 times a week.
What a blast they had. Charley found the first mud puddle he could and laid down flat on his belly. Yankee usually stays out of the mud but the excitement of seeing Charley was too much and he went in after him to wrestle. We had the happiest muddiest…

The weatherman said it would rain this morning but clear up this afternoon. Around noon, Yankee and I headed for the dog park. It has been raining for most of the week and we really needed to get out.
It was nice enough when we got there. We took a stroll and ran into a neighbor with her Husky "Dakota". This was Yankee's first doggie friend and he still adores her even though she moved away. My neighbor likes to walk way back in the bush where there are few people and dogs so off we…

This has not been a good week for Yankee and I. I'll be glad when it's over.
We just came back from the dog park. We met another owner with a doodle and talked and walked together while the dogs played on and off. The sun is shining and it is a beautiful day. We are reaching the end of our walk when a lady with two akitas or huskies (not sure) passed us going the other way. One of her dogs jumped Yankee, had him down on the ground growling and all I could hear was Yankee yelping. I…

I dropped Yankee off at the groomer this morning. I said I wanted his tail trimmed as well so she asked if I wanted a fox tail cut. I don't know what that is but I think I said yes. Should be interesting.
