It is completely foreign to my sweet little Callie that another dog might NOT want to play with her! At my sister's last weekend, she kept trying to play with their 14 year old lhasa/shi-tzu mix, Scoobie. Scoobie has been a cranky curmudgeon since she was a puppy, and this has not improved with age. I'm at the office right now and I miss Callie! Hopefully, Callie is behaving nicely and is not chewing up the new sofa or tearing down the curtains I hung (all by myself...I am woman hear me ROAR) yesterday. I think Callie and I had too much fun yesterday...we played chase all over the house, went on long walks in the rain (we do such romantic things, me and my dood!), and did lots of good snuggling. No, she didn't eat the DVD, or the DVD case, if that's what you're expecting (not that anyone would be shocked!). Ok...it started out as cute naughtiness, but Callie escalated into major destruction today...she broke, pulled down, and shredded the blinds in my den. Our schedule hasn't really changed, so if it is boredom, it's sudden onset boredom. I really don't know how to prevent this (first step of course will be confinement again when I'm gone). Now, I've read all the articles that say poodles are one of the smartest dog breeds. Ostensibly, their intelligence is on par with a 3 year old's (I remain a little skeptical on that...I don't know any three year old humans who try to eat their own barf). I do not know what got into Callie yesterday, but she out did herself in naughtiness. I haven't seen her so ill-behaved since the first week that I had her, before school and her learning all the "rules". I was on a date recently and kept thinking "I wish I was at home, hanging out with Callie. That would be way better than this date". Needless to say, Bachelor #1 should not plan on a date #2!

I let Callie sleep in my bed with me...I know I should make her sleep in her very own bed, but she's so delicously snuggly! Callie's general MO is that she gets in my bed, and while I'm still awake reading she comes and lays her head on my chest so I can pet her ears and nose. Then, when I'm ready to go to sleep, she goes to the end of the bed, curls up and goes to sleep. I spend Thanksgiving with my family in Memphis. This year, "family" is inclusive of Callie, who I adopted in April, 2009. I always stay with my sister, my brother in law (BIL moving forward), and their 7 year old twin sons (my much beloved "nephs"). Sis and BIL have a new addition as well...Maisy, the miniature schnauzer, who is now 7 months old and is tipping the scales at 11 lbs. That's just pretty darn miniature. First a little background on me...I had to have my dog Bailey put to sleep in November of 2006 (she wasn't a doodle, but another unusual mix - bassett hound/black lab). I loved Bailey and to this day have guilt about having her euthanized (even though my logical brain knows it was the best/only decision to be made).
