Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

If anyone got a doodle puppy at 8 weeks that weighed 10 pounds, I would appreciate hearing about what the doodle weighed as an adult. I am just wondering if there is a pattern at all. My biggest puppies in Lyric's litter are 6 1/2 weeks old now and weigh over 8 pounds. They should hit 10 pounds by the age of 8 weeks. The two smaller puppies weigh 7 pounds and will probably weigh about 8 1/2 at 8 weeks, Here is a picture of the largest puppy.

Well Huff was 16lbs at 8 weeks and he was skinny.

Charli was 8.2 lbs and supposedly 9.5 weeks (though I believe she was probably 4 weeks younger - I will use their date for her stats).

-11 weeks 16.2 lbs & 15.5"

-16 weeks 22.5 lbs & 17 1/2"

- 20 weeks 29 lbs & 19

- 24 weeks 39lbs & 21 1/4

-14 months 49 lbs & 27

at 21 months she is 54.5 lbs and 28"

For her height, Charli is a lightweight but I am hoping she fills out.

this is Charli's PetFinder picture. They look so much alike - gorgeous and those blue eyes!!

They do look alike! And will probably end up being about the same size since that would make my pup just a bit bigger than his mom. Was it his teeth that made you think he was younger than the age they gave you? One of my puppies is just getting his teeth now and is 2-3 weeks behind the others in that regard--but he has both his testes--which puts him ahead of a few brothers--LOL!!
Traveler was 10 pounds at 8 weeks.  He's 15 months now, and weights 50.5 pounds.  Both parents were labradoodles, with mom weighing about 50 and dad weighing about 35.  I think he's about as big as he'll get.
it really depends on the genetics behind the puppy
You are so right as this non-scientific survey has shown! I am a retired Biology teacher and genetics was my specialty--I taught a college level course in genetics to seniors--so I am getting a kick out of how random these 8 week weights and adult weights are! My breeder said that you can double 4 month wts. and get an approximation, but even that seems unlikely for some dogs after reading these responses! I am sure it works most of the time though when a dog has a slow and steady growth pattern.
I have a boy who produces slow grower, his puppies are the same size as my medium (30 pounds) puppies at 8 weeks and it makes some people question but I have tracked his litters and know they grow slower than average and bulk up after a year.

Our Murphy was about 9 pds at 8 weeks, 28 pds at 16 weeks and is now 66 pds at 2.2 yrs.  Bella was probably about 10 pds as well at 8 weeks, but I didn't get her until 10 weeks and she was already around 15ish pds. She is now 7 months and already 52 pds. Given her genetics and the breeders knowlege of her litters, we are expecting her to be about 65ish pds also.

He is so cute. I didn't save my dogs' stats, so I'm not help to you. But some of us LOVE giant doodles.

These stats are so crazy to see and compare! Just goes to show you really have NO idea! Bailey was 11 Ibs at 8 weeks, 17Ibs at 10 1/2 weeks, 21 Ibs at 12 wks, and 26 Ibs at 15 1/2 weeks!  I feel like she tripled her size every time we took her to the vet, she was small for so little time that looking back at pictures I cant even remember her being the 11 Ib baby! I cant imaging having a full grown dood under 20 Ibs- seems crazy to me considering Bails is still a baby!

Our breeder stated that she would be under 50 Ibs since she has never had a girl go over that- and I think that she actually had NO IDEA! Baileys  mom (goldendoodle) was supposedly 50Ibs, and the dad (poodle) 45- but at the rate our girls been growing it seems she will be way over that, unless she slows down, which seems to be the trend when reading the other posts.  Either way I love our big dood and dont care how big she gets either way!

Bailey sounds like she is growing at the same rate as Izzy. We predict Izzy will be around 50 lbs. She is a little bigger than Lucca was at 4 months and he is 44 lbs at 2 1/2 yo. They do start to slow down. I just can't remember when that happens. I feel like Izzy is growing like a weed. She is very thin but tall and lean.
We got Hartley at 12 weeks and he was about 14 pounds, I think.  He is now three years old and weighs 80 pounds - and he is very lean.  His Mom was a 55 pound lab and His Dad a 50 pound (small) standard poodle.  Hartley was predicted to be between 50-55 pounds.  The breeder couldn't believe how big he got!!  So, I would guess that your guy is going to get pretty big!!
