Toby sends lots of doodle kisses and tail wags to his (Sept 19, 2008 Tula/Micah) siblings! Can you believe they turned 10-year-old yesterday?! Wow!!
Kia wishes all her siblings a pawsitively spectacular and happy birthday. She wishes she could see some of her siblings again.
Lucca wishes a Happy 10th Birthday to all his siblings from the Tula/Micah Sept 19 2008 litter!! Where did the time go
Thank you all for the sincere comments. I joined a Blind Dog and Owner group on FB. I feel fortunate after reading some of the entries that Alma is adjusting so well. Someone commented that their dog has switched days and nights. Another said their dog is stubborn and will not move around the house or even go outside - a reply was that the dog may be fearful and need a small dose of anti-anxiety medication. Other dogs with tumors or cancers have had enucleation surgery - I cannot imagine what that all entails. My issues seem miniscule: having to order a standing water bowl as Alma has stepped in or knocked over her dish several times, buying a new harness so we can train her to go on walks, finding a ball with sound so she can play fetch, gating the stairs (currently have boards across the opening), calling the groomer and kennel to make sure they accept blind dogs... We are headed to the park across the street now for our morning outing. Thanks again for all the kind messages.
So sorry to hear about Alma, and a pray she will continue to adjust to her blindness and remain in good spirits. When my (human) friend with retinal degeneration learned that her poodle suffered from the same, she quipped, "Oh, there goes the blind lady with the blind dog." Now, a few years later, they have both adjusted and continue to fill each other with joy.
Aw, I'm so sorry to hear this! Toby and I send lots of hugs.
Diane, I'm so sorry to her about Alma. Hugs to you all as you all readjust to the new normal.
Diane, I am so sorry to hear about Alma's vision. I hope she is able to negotiate through this handicap with your help and her joie de vivre.
Oh, Diane, I am so sorry to hear about Alma's vision. It will be an adjustment for all, but I think she will adapt quickly. Prayers for Alma that she continues to be in good spirits and can still live her days happy and healthy. We just had Toby's annual and the Dr said Toby has the beginning of retinal degeneration, which they said was normal for his age. These pups sure do fill our hearts with so much love! (((HUGS)))
