Cathy & Tammy, thanks for the comments: Mocha is 14 months, maybe a slow bloomer that she just "blew" her puppy coat now :-) When I picked her up from the groomer she ddn't look a bad as I thought she would. I ordered a Les Pooche brush and will start brushing her now even tho she doesn't have any hair to tangle etc. By the time she does get hair maybe she will be used to the brushing and tolerate brushing better. Keep you fingers crossed for me that the shedding is just a passing phase.

We have 2 F1's. Neither sheds much. We take them to a groomer every 3 to 4 months. We see "clumps" of hair when they are close to needing grooming. We brush more often when they are close to grooming appointments. BTW we have them on different months.

How old is she? My GD just turned 1 and began matting a month ago. I think she is just blowing her coat in prep for adulthood? Gracie's also started rather suddenly. However, hers never sheds, it sticks to her, causing mats. It seems to be letting up now. I got a couple of Les Pooches brushes and their matt spray when this started and it helped. I have several friends with F1's both GD & LD, that do not shed. Hope it is just a passing phase. Also, don't worry about the shaving so much. It will give you a chance to brush her with a fresh start and it will grow out before you know it. I like the looks of longer hair but my Gracie likes to play dirty so I must keep her almost "wash and wear" for my own sanity.

Heard F1's shed more.. is this true? Mocha is shedding BIG time. Never had a dog shed as much as she is, and have had dogs all my life. She has to get shaved today and I am SO VERY upset!!! Has been shedding for some time and then the mats seemed to come overnight and kept coming even tho we brushed. Guess didn't brush enough!!! Can't believe it got so bad so quickly. Anyone elses F1 shedding so much etc.?

Welcome from Yankee and myself! That is such a cute name and would have been the name of our next doodle if my husband let me have another one, but he said one dog at a time is enough! I think Yankee and Snicker Doodle are great names!

Willy is doing very well so far expect for the cold weather. I gave him a chew bone this morning and wanted to take it outside i didn't let him, he is making all kinds of noises now when he lies down, his coat is a very pretty color still very golden with a touch of white

Happy New Year to everyone! Hope that your Holidays were wonderful.
My Coco is an F1..her mommy was a Chocolate Lab and her daddy was a Chocolate Standard Poodle.. her coat has changed dramatically, but she is now 3, as of January 1 and I think that she will stay the color she is now!
