Garden Group

I hope there are many gardeners among us doodle owners. After all we must be nurturers. We can share information on what's safe for dogs, how to keep them from destroying plantings and all green related things.

I am glad Haley is such an educated gardener.

Good boy, Haley!

Otis blew the leaves from the pecan tree away from the tree so that I could pick up the pecans.

Haley knows that the leaves need nitrogen to help them compost so every morning when he goes out to potty he makes sure that they get a dose of nitrogen. Here is is looking for the right spot to make his contribution.

Maryann ~ It is recommended to transplant every year, but I do it about every 3 years,   I am in the process of selecting a new pot for it, and I plan to transplant in this next spring.  Until then it is going to be lightly dusted!  I am a lazy gardener! LOL

Janie ~ I love this plant.  When it blooms the little flowers are in clusters in the axis of the limbs. They smell somewhat like jasmine and only last about 3 or 4 days.  After they fall off the cherry looking things begin to grow (not scientific word for them).  It takes the beans about 30 plus days to mature and then they will fall off when I bump it.  No, I do not bother with the beans, as there are so few of them.  I guess there are two & sometimes 3 beans in each cherry.  You would then have to roast the beans.  I leave that to Starbucks!  I do love coffee though. I think in Africa these trees grow to be 35 feet, if you can imagine!!

Anne  ~ thank you.  It is one of my favorites.

Linda, Your coffee plant is gorgeous.

A coffee plant, who knew! Do you put it outdoors for the summer or always keep it inside? Can you use the beans? It is beautiful! Can't believe it grew so much!

Good grief five and half feet tall!  I bought a little baby one like you started with, but it just died.  I can't imagine how you can get it in the shower!!  Must look beautiful in your home though.

I noticed the berries looks a little pink in the photo, but they are actually in the process of turning red.  The lightening in my dining room this evening, makes it look pinkish.

It is my favorite house plant!  It leaves are very shiny (well they are supposed to be - mine may be a little dusty!).  It is getting so big it is difficult to get it in the shower for a cleanup on leaves. Actually there are two types of coffee plants and this one self pollinates, the other does not.

I had no idea one could have a coffee plant.
