I'm sorry about your mom's Westie, Nancy.
There's a beautiful old pale pink climbing rose called "Annie Laurie", but it may be hard to find and then to grow. Here's a link:

Sorry to hear about your Mom's dog. I love the idea of plants with meaning. I have plants originally from my father, cuttings I grew from my sister in California, geraniums from Luca's trainer etc. The first one I found named Sweet Annie is an artemisia,. I don't know this variety but these are easy to grow plants and they love hot, arid places. I'm sure there are other plants too.

When my Mom's Westie passed away a few years ago I found a plant with her name - Abigail. My Mom's second Westie passed away yesterday and i wonder if there is a plant I could get her that has the name Annie, Annie Laurie or something i could connect it to her with. I am in Southern California - inland where it gets quite hot - not coastal and humid. It could be indoors or outdoors.

I started my garden yesterday with my daughters help!! Oh Boy Wilson just wanted to keep on being with us he was grunting and showing his vocal expressions quite a bit it was funny !!!

My Siberian irises are beautiful now too. In fact, aside from all the thriving weeds, the garden looks lush and lovely.
