We only have one doodle because that's all we can handle. Oliver is very hyper and he doesn't like other dogs very well. I don't think he would be able to share the attention. One is enough.…Continue

One really works for us. We thought when we decided to get a Doodle we would start with one and then add another after she was one year old. We had heard stories that it was hard to bond with your…Continue

Hey wait what am I doing here? Well technically, I am going to stay a one doodle home. My mom is getting a toy golden doodle, the puppy comes in August, and my moms new home that she is having built won't be done until the beginning of October, so she will be with us a while.
I have really wanted to and still do want to keep Jack as a single doodle. Not forever, but for now. I have such a great thing with him and he is very happy being an only dood because he gets play groups several times a week.
I have to say though my mom is going to be 70 and when her time comes if it is when her dog is still alive, I will be a two doodle family. The same goes in reverse, she will take Jack.
I am really hoping and praying and doing all I can to prepare my mom to be able to be successful with her puppy so that she does not want me to take her. I did say that I would if she couldn't handle it. I think my mom will do well, and that the companionship she will get out of this new baby coupled with the dog park where she is going to live, is going to work out well. She may be a little spoiled with bad manners..
Anyway, all that to say, I am hoping to stay a one doodle family as well. I think to each their own...Jack has cohabited in a home with three other doodles before, He was the smallest and he was also the alpha. I do not want another dog to be subjected to Jack bossing them around all day and I don't want to spend all day disciplining Jack for being a bully!!!!
Well, right now we own only 1 doodle but we have done so much fostering for DRC we rarely have just one doodle in the house. :-o
We fostered four 8 week old goldendoodles since March 18th. The last one goes to his forever home this weekend. I think I am going to miss the pitter-patter of little paws.
We're sticking with just one Doodle. We also have an older dog. Duffy will be 4 on June 1. His puppy stage lasted a whole lot longer than what we anticipated. We are NOT going through that again! Plus with the illness he is still coming off of, we can't chance it again. He is so loving and affectionate - one is enough.
Thanks Camilla. Doesn't it seem that those of us who have only doodles are more focused than those who have more than one? Not so easily distracted? Perhaps it has something to do with a longer attention span?
