Lucy, my daughter and I went to Hondo yesterday afternoon. I can't tell you all how much Lucy loves this park! She found a great play buddy within minutes of entering, with a similar energy and play style and both ran and chased each other around the park. Only incident was when we were about ready to leave, a huge Rottweiler T-boned Lucy, while Lucy and her buddy ran and chased each other. Sent Lucy rolling out of control. She didn't know what had hit her, and honestly, neither my daughter nor me saw the Rottweiler coming. The owner of the Rottweiler reprimanded her dog for playing too rough, but I thought that was a good time to make our exit.

Hi,
I am knew to the group and really wanted to participate on Sept.11th but I have a wedding reception at 4:00pm in Salmon Creek area. I might be able to make it at 1:00pm and leave around 2:00. I can't skip the reception. Obligated!!!!. I would love to meet other doodle parents. I am also interested in Dogs Digg It. Have actually been considering using them once the rains starts a few time a month for Myles. I will really try to make it to the park on the 11th. Thanks for the invite and organizing this play/meet time.

Went to Hondo early this morning. As we were entering two Irish Wolfhounds were exiting. Had to laugh as the hounds where so massive and huge. Riley took it in stride only because the hounds where not threatening to him and were cool .
I would say it was busy there at that time of the morning. Every dog breed under the sun was there. Riley, ran and ran. He would leave my side and go to a an uncomfortable distance from me. But when he decided to come back to me, he ran like the wind. I have never seen him run that fast. There was one instance of growling and such. Riley, immediately ran to the fuss. Then when he got there, he looked around like what am I doing here!. Funny thing was he got close to a English bull dog that he wanted to greet. But, the Bulldog was making a lot of noise breathing and Riley backed off not knowing what to make of that.
Riley, has been sleeping from the time we got back till now. What is the good thing, and hard to believe is that Riley, has adjusted to us old folks. My meaning is, he deals with us and adapts. I know he has so much more energy in him, but has toned it down because of his environment.

Doodle meet at Hondo Dog Park is scheduled for Sept. 11 from 1pm-3pm.

No reserved areas, as it is a public facility.

Next weekend is Labor Day weekend, so that probably isn't a good time. How does the following Saturday sound (Sept. 11th)? We went to Hondo yesterday (Saturday) around 3pm and there were very few dogs there at that time. Maybe it was a fluke, but I'd suggest our time window be between 1pm-3pm. We've been there on Saturdays after 4pm and its been very busy at that time.

Lauria, no romps or Hondo meets have been set yet. Sorry, for any confusion. I am trying to schedule something somewhere, but nothing firmed up at this time.

Debb, pick a date for a Hondo meet. We will put the word out as to date and time. Will schedule a " Dogs Dig It " romp later .
