I had a standard poodle for 15 years and poodles are prone to tearing eyes and even allergies. Our guy had seasonal allergies and sensitive skin. We had to make sure to clean his eyes regularly so they wouldn't get a build up of "eye boogies" as we called them. Not sure what they meant by "because of teething," but it might be worth it to check with a vet just in case...

Still thinking about this: this could be something like an allergic reaction to food or narrow tear ducts, which she would most likely outgrow. Or it could be something more serious.....Poodles are prone to Progressive Retinal Atrophy..this is more serious. Did your Breeder to any eye testing?

Christina: Conjunctvitis is " pink eye" and yes, completely treatable. It does NOT necessarily mean it would be a problem throughout the life of the dog. But it does need to be treated. Unless, it has just started, the rest of the litter would be effective as well, and the rim of the eyes would be very red. It could very well be nothing, but I would watch her....do you have a Vet appt. set up for when she comes home?

Rosemary, her eyes looked fine to us but I'm not an expert. Is conjunctivitis something that is curable in dogs or will we always have an issue(assuming that's what it is). Should we be worried? I've been reading that a lot of dogs have tear stains but it's so hard to get info from the internet. Thanks for your help:)

Christina : how did the eyes look otherwise? Red rimmed, puffy? I bred Goldens for many years and my puppies eyes never teared because of teething. ( or any other reason)I would be worried about conjunctivitis, which is extremely contagious. Or something similar.

Hi! Has anyone had any experience with tearing eyes in puppies? We visited our 7 week old pup today and noticed wet streaks on her face. The breeder said it's probably because of teething. I'm afraid there's more to it. Thanks for any help you can offer!

At what age can I expect Cassie's coat to start changing? She's 7 1/2 months old now and I just want to be prepared. Thanks

We took a chance and let Molly join our family photo session this year! She's almost 8 mos. and will be on the Christmas card. I'm so glad we did it -- when the proofs arrive, I'll share. Lots of treats were involved. It was raining so her paws shrunk, lol.

I wanted to badly to take Hurley on runs with me when he was about 6 months old. But I did not. Both his vet and his trainer said not before 18 months and even then start very slow. Which I did but as super as Hurley is as a running partner I decided not to stress his hips but rather take more cautious approach.
Luckily my brother goes for long walks every morning. He takes Hurley and two other doodles. I run his walking route at the same time.

18 months.  Those growth plates need to grow and strengthen.  Same with jumping in a pool or out of a boat, over and over again.  I've seen a dog, at 2 yrs. old crippled because of this.
