I believe that Feed This does deliver out of state. however I would imagine it would be pricey! Have you tried shopping at Oriental Markets? They have wonderful things and for very good prices. I buy Ozzie's chicken feet there. It's fun to go. FeedThis has some very good supplements, too. I give Ozzie one of their probiotics. I also buy his goat yoghurt at Trader Joe's. Very reasonable.

Hey Ozzie~ "Feed This" sounds great! I wonder if they - or any one else - deliver out of state? Angus has his own freezer too. We buy on sale, but it would be nice to have some of the specialty items - especially the organ meats that are difficult to get if your friends have not been hunting!

Ozzie eats raw. We use a service called "FeedThis" (www.feedthis.com). They are fantastic. There is home delivery and meals are in individual cartons, sufficient for one day. We have delivery every two months to save on cost. Ozzie has his own freezer in the garage! We love it and he does too. They are wonderful at FeedThis and will work with you on your doggie's diet! Highly recommended!

Feeding our dood raw seems easy for me. We buy chicken thighs, quarters whole, when on sale , cut it into pieces and freeze it. Do the same with inexpensive meat & organs. Every few days I take out a bunch and keep it thawed in the fridge. Angus is still a puppy (dob: Jan 29, 2010), so we put out food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. We typically do not season our vegetables (usually steamed or sauteed) and we offer whatever we are having - sometimes cooked - sometimes raw. He usually eats some of the vegetables, sometimes all that we put down. We sometimes mix 'em with rice. He LOVES carrots - raw, cooked or sauteed! He would rather do tricks for carrots than for dog treats! Occasionally breakfast is scrambled eggs (if that is what we are having) - sometimes with a little steak or bacon if he has been especialy good. He also likes yogurt with fruit from time to time. What he doesn't eat after 15 minutes I cover and put in the fridge for the next meal. He also loves fish - canned, cooked or raw. I haven't had the nerve to offer whole raw fish (with the bones), but I am told that it is ok...any thoughts? I like knowing exactly what he is eating.

I don't think we have Bravo food in Australia?? We do have Ziwi Peak-- but Ruby won't eat it. And I keep a box of BARF frozen food in my freezer, she loves that, but I use it when I have nothing else usually.

We have been feeding Sadie Bravo raw food for the past six months. We decided to go this route after trying several different brands of dry and/or wet food which she would eat for one or two days and then not eat anymore. We were not only concerned about her health/nutrition, but this process was becoming very costly. Since starting the raw diet, she has been eating consistent meals and we alternate between chicken and beef. We are so thrilled to have discovered the raw diet and our Sadie loves it.

I am happy you started this group! I have fed Coop raw since he was a baby! I swear it is the best for Coop....doesn't mean it is the best for all dogs, but it sure works well with him!
Coop does get some cooked treats, plus cheese, yogurt and some raw fresh veggies, so I am not a purist, but his primary food is raw. I feed NW Naturals, Primal and Addiction (dehydrated) when we are traveling.

I feed both my LD and GD a raw diet. We have a local butcher that makes the raw and sells it frozen. The brand is called Bravo and I buy the chicken blend which has blanched veggies added to it. I sometimes also give them raw skinless chicken necks. For treats - fun and training I give freeze dried carrots, freeze dried hot dogs, Paul Newman organic treats, and high quality kibble (I buy the little sample packs at our local natural pet food store) I also give them bully sticks and cow ears. I have given them Himalayan dog chews but they are a bit pricy and they eat them way too quickly. I guess that I also give them leftover cooked meat and chicken and a variety of other things. I don't give them any treat made in China or any treat with the first ingredient flour. Oops, I forgot that they love the sweet potato leathers too! Actually they love anything.

Hi Jennifer, I'm an American living in Sydney for a few years for my husband's work. Here lots of people do the raw diet-- lots don't also of course. But the butchers here even have "lamb trimmings" for you to buy for your dog and they sell you huge bags of meaty bones for like $1-- it's the cheapest thing in Australia!

And I've seen that yahoo raw group, I agree that it's a little extreme-- I'm a total moderate but want to get ideas for feeding without being rigid.

Wow -- A whole group! There will probably only be like 4 of us... eek. I don't feel like many people on DK think highly of raw feeding.

Honestly I started it just because kibble looked really unappetizing to ME and I felt like it was work to get Sammy to eat any of it so I started asking around at the natural pet stores and google searching and raw seemed like the right way to go.

Now that we are doing it -- I don't know how to get out of it if I want to. If I put down kibble (I have TONS of sample bags from puppy class -- nice stuff from a natural pet store -- like EVO, Innova, Wellness, etc.) So on mornings when I don't feel like messing w/ raw meat I try to leave him kibble instead -- but it just ends up sitting in the bowl all day.

I hate to admit it, but he really didn't get fed today. I left kibble out and treated him with some chicken jerky and pumpkin biscuits... but he never touched the kibble and I never got the raw out (my tummy is bugging me today and I didn't want to deal w/ the smell). Terrible I know... but he doesn't seem ravenous and is sleeping in his crate now for the night.

Sorry to ramble on -- I do feel guilty about today and I do have questions for raw feeders that I haven't be brave enough to ask on the yahoo group I am on (where there are all a bit over zealous about their raw food... like no treats of any kind allowed other than raw!)

I will start a Discussion or two and we can sit around and hope for more members :)
