Some very exciting new research from UC Davis on IBD in humans, might possibly help with IBD in dogs, too. (And it's much shorter and easier to read than the link Adina posted, lol)

Scientists find key to growth of "bad" bacteria in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Research is first to shed light on how harmful gut bacteria thrive in tne intestine.
Adina, these people write in obfuscating language. The gist of the article, and I confess I soon went to the summary, is that Vitamin D acts in more than one way to help prevent flu.A low D level contributes to getting the flu and to flu epidemics etc. So it it part explains the seasonal incidence of flu, which is in part related to latitude since D will be lower in certain latitudes at certain times of the year. I was posting a link to a nice Vitamin D slideshow earlier but I realized that it would lead into my Medscape account. I couldn't figure a way around that. Since DK members recently were helpful in pointing out that I posted something with my email link I have become more cautious. There is no easy way to post a lot of interesting things I find.
I glanced at it, it made my head swim but who am I to resist a challenge. So I will now have an open tab on my browser and I will read it as soon as I do some other things. There will be no way to sleep tonight unless I wade through the pile of papers I dumped there to sort through. Meanwhile, I'm happy I had my flu shot and that the flu epidemic appears to be waning.
F...do you want a reading assignment? http://www.virologyj.com/content/5/1/29 -- I have been meaning to read this, the tab has been opened on my computer for at least two weeks but never have time for long reads these days.
My son's girlfriend is a stats major who graduated with honors from UF declined my offer to be my tutor!! she must sense that I would be awful!!
Anything I learned in the 70s, I have forgotten! It was the 70s!!
I first took it before there were calculators which are allowed in all stats classes now! The next time I could use a calculator but the problems were pages per problem that you worked out - now you use SPSS and a computer program does it, but you have to learn the software - it never gets easier!! LOL
I was a stat major in college for almost 3 years and then I realized that I didn't know what kind of job I was going to get so I switched to accounting. :)
This is my 3rd class in it!! 15 years ago, I thought it was a great challenge and I DID overcome it ( with a B) Now it is just plain torture!! Actually, I am meeting with a tutor tomorrow!
