About Me:: My name is Elizabeth, or Liz for short. My husband, Don, and I fell in love with Sophie while fostering her for Second Chance Rescue. We have two beautiful human kiddos and we love our little family.

What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!: Sophie is a 2 year old Goldendoodle that was born on November 22nd 2006. She is 3/8 Golden Retriever, and 5/8 Poodle. She was born with cataracts. Her previous owner could not care for her anymore due to her size and high energy level, and surendered her to the humane society. They considered her "unadoptable" saying she "did not present herself well" The reality is she could not see and was very scared. Her sight was fixed thanks to Second Chance Rescue and thanks to the many caring dog lovers that donated to her cause. She is very sweet and likes to snuggle. She is smart, and learns quickly.. She is curious and I call her my clown! We are lucky to have her!

Where did you get your doodle(s)?: Rescue

Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?: We wanted a dog that did not shed too much. Plus doodles are so cute!

What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?: She loves to snuggle. She doesn't mind sleeping in. She loves walks, squirrel watching, and other dogs, but most of all, her BALL.
She makes me laugh every day. She is a clown! She is eager to learn new commands and recently learned how to jump! She can be silly.. for some reason, she bites the air next to the vacume when I'm using the suction tools.. She's so goofy.

Does your doodle(s) shed?: Nope!

Who grooms your doodle(s)?: Kim at Petsmart in Coon Rapids a couple times a year- I am learing to do it myself too!

Favorite Doodle Products?: Extreme Kong Toy, Air Dog squeeze tennis ball, She loves any tennis ball (especially one that squeeks) She likes catching frisbees, and jumping poles!!

Baby Brooke is here!

Our newest addition has arrived and her name is Brooke. We were a bit nervous and unsure of how Sophie would take to her, but everything is going great!! We had a feeling things would go alright because her original owner had her daughter and grandkids living with her, plus Sophie had been around our friend's kids and our nice and did well.

At first she was jelous from time to time when we would pay lots of attention to Brooke and talk to her, but now it doesn't even phase her…

Sophie is very curious and thinks that every living creature is alive for her to play with. I had found a couple bees today crawling around in search for warmth. I got rid of them and didn't think much of it. Of course, Sophie saw a bee crawling along the door jam, and was extremely curious. I look over to her snififng around near the sliding glass door, at this point I wasn't really paying attention. The good, the bad, and the ugly..

First, the good: Sophie's kidney function is within "normal", so she does not have kidney failure at this time. This makes it very likely that she will survive this disease. Rarely do they develope kidney failure if it wasn't present when treatment was initiated. I nearly cried when the vet called me at work to tell me the good news.. a bit emotional with everything, but it still felt good to know my girl is not too bad off at this point.

Lyme disease. Who knew!

Since January, I have been paranoid about her eating. Jan/Feb we had some difficulty getting her to eat ENOUGH.. or so I thought. I was really nervous she was loosing weight. Everyone told me it was all of the adjusting to a new home and new eyesight after eye surgery. When I brought her into the vet in March her weight was close to what was listed in some of her previous health records. That helped to ease my mind.
