Incredible Swan Lake to make our day brighter.

I got this email today and it is incredible.

I don't think Tchaikovsky had this choreography in mind when he wrote "Swan Lake." How could anyone imagine the performance you are about to see.

With a population of nearly 1.5 billion, the Chinese had to locate one great…

Ruby Foster Doodle (cross post from the DRC site)

Ruby is a sweet (SWEET) 3 year old labradoodle. She was pulled from a high-kill shelter in North Carolina (thanks, Michael G!) where she had been turned in by her backyard breeder "parents". That's right...Ruby was used strictly to breed litter after litter of puppies and then was turned into this high kill shelter when her "usefulness" was gone (If you can't read between the lines, I hate these people. I can't put it into gentler, more PC terms...people who irresponsibly breed dogs so they…

If Doodles could talk

If you know about me and my non excercising program with Sir Riley you my find this interesting.  On top of his crate we have a bin full of toys, brushes, medicines and et all.  The last few days he has been going over to it , and not touching his toys which are out and on top of the crate.  I kept saying what do you want?  Today, I found out.  His lead was drapped over the bin.  He jumped up, nuzzled the lead and then sat and stared at me.  I asked him again, what do you want?  He again jumped… Continue

Rooney's never ending house guest

Last week as I was looking forward to DH getting back from China and being excited for our trip to Key West (our Valentine's/Anniversary trip that was postponed due to China) - my phone range and it was the middle child calling to say - suprise - I'm packing up, bringing the new puppy and driving down from Michigan.  I was very happily shocked as this child is the only one that NEVER comes to visit us no matter where we are living.  Soooo, once again the Key West trip is moved back a month…

Duncan takes Manhattan

So i tend to work here and there in Manhattan. Sometimes a full week and sometimes just a day here and there. Whenever my clients need me. I have a friend who has a pet friendly office in Manhattan and sometimes Duncan gets to go there and play but yesterday he was allowed to come to my client's office. So he got to be with me while i worked. It was so much fun. He loved all the attention and basically rolled over for belly rubs for each and every person in that office. And as each person…

A bit of a scare..

I just have to vent a bit, as this is yet another example of irresponsible breeding......My husband and his mother were walking our two pups at our local park yesterday.  They saw a friend who was walking her new puppy (a Pit Rottweiler mix that was "accidentally bred" by her daughter).  The woman normally walks her other little dog, who is very friendly with our two pups.  As they approached, my big guy, Seamus, was curious about this new dog.  The new dog sat and seemed to wag his tail, but… Continue

Chicken Doodle!

I think everyone has heard the expression, "Scared of Your Own Shadow".  Well, I would like to introduce you to Vern, who was in a panic yesterday at the park because he could see our shadows moving along the tree line.

He spent the entire walk on high alert and would growl occasionally if I lifted my arm and my shadow did the same thing. I only wish I had brought my…

It's Potty Time!!

Hi everyone! Sophie and I have been working very hard at going potty outside. Well today, she asked to be taken out by jumping at the door. At first I was a little uncertain if she was actually asking, but sure enough, as soon as we got outside, she did her business. I couldn't possibly be prouder! It makes up for all her crazy antics like jumping up on me and pulling on my clothes, nipping my ear, trying to eat my hair and ripping apart my new doggie magazine. Now she's chewing a chunk out of… Continue

Agillity class taken over a year ago!

When I  was on the mend, took Riley to a few weeks of agillity training a year or so ago.  After classes, I made some hurdles for him.  Worked with him a few times, and put everything in the garage and did no more with him for well over a year now.  We went to our doodle romp a couple of weeks ago.  There was a pretty big plastic child play structure.  Had a incline ramp that got… Continue

Random micro blogs from naughty doodle land...

Rosco was outside going potty (#1) and Boca was outside tearing into some kind of dirty rag.  I banged on the back window to disturb Boca's destruction...which ended up disturbing Rosco's pee and he came back in...unfinished..and just as he was about to lie down on the living room rug I noticed pee dribbles on the rug.  And there were MORE in the back entry. …

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BIG MURPH!

Today is Murphy's anniversary....one year ago his DRC fairy godmothers helped him to find us.  I will never forget seeing him for the first time....he had me with that first "kiss".  I really fell in love with him on the ride home from New Jersey.  I sat in the backseat with the two boys, and they just cuddled up and slept the whole way.  Murph was a very confident, "full of himself" puppy, but he also had a vulnerable side.  He's still like that.  He's been much more of a challenge to…

Rua's Newest Adventures

HI all!  Rua here.  Thought I would update you on what has been going on lately.  My Momma already told you about my traveling adventures recently - California to Florida - in less than 2 weeks.  I had a blast!  Everybody was so suprised that I was on the plane, and everyone kept telling my momma how cute I was.  Like she didn't know!

My momma has been sick 4 times since Christmas and I am having a hard time getting all of the attention I deserve from her...she has taken some…

Dear Bright Green Boy

One year ago today, (well in 55 minutes) it will be your birthday. The day that you came into this world to fulfill a promise God made to me. I never knew it, I didn't know you even existed at this point and I am pretty sure I was just considering getting a dog. I wasn't sure I would want such a mess in my house. You know mommy doesn't allow shoes, dirt or anything messy in her house.

Certainly I could not imagine a dog who's hair is a magnet for grass, weeds and anything…

Demodectic mange and DS

My DS and his beautiful 4 month old Weimaranar pup have been visiting the last 2 weeks while he works in New Orleans.

Kona had what appeared to be a minor scrape on her hip when he got here...said he noticed it when he picked her up from daycare the last day. Today it was still the same so he took her to the vet. Diagnosis: demodectic mange, a genetic condition.  The vet said that she cannot be bred (not a problem) and that at least one of the parents had the condition and should not…

How Can it Be .... My Babies Are 3!

I brought my babies home almost on the same exact day that DK began!   My ultimate dream for them was that they would become wonderful therapy dogs and that my retirement years would have a purpose!  I can remember thinking that they couldn't even be taken to do their therapy test until they were a year old, and thinking wow, that is so far away ...... fast forward to yesterday and my babies are now three years old ....... I think someone hit that fast forward button a few times to makes it…
