He didn't need treats to win her over!! She charmed his socks off. Resistance was futile. He was hooked the minute he saw those big brown eys and the golden blond hair. Love at first sight I'm sure, even though he wouldn't admit it. Maybe his love for our lost Clay made him hold back just a little - not wanting to be disloyal or not wanting to love and lose again. I had been teasing him that I was going to get a dog that loved me as much as Clay loved him. I jokingly told him that he would…

Banjo comes home on Saturday! I'm just so darned excited.....BUT....I have to admit there is a little bit of anxiety to go along with the excitement. I'm so glad to have found the DK Site as it's been so informative! However - some of the topics I've read have left me questioning my sanity........worms...diarrhea...(explosive diarrhea!)...ear infections....skin maladies....red lipstick!!!!.....possessiveness.....food allergies....car sickness.....separation anxiety.....
destroyed…

The ever knowing (ie. know it all but I did not say that) DH came home yesterday and took Allie outside to do her business (yes this is a feat in itself. Last week he came home and did not let her out after being in the crate for a few hours and yes she did pee right in front of him..... hehehe). The back ground.... I mostly work from home and just go into the office for a little bit. During this time I put Allie in her crate. She is now six months old. So basically she is in her crate for…

Well we survived our second week. It seems like months. Beemer is doing very well. Last Friday he had his stitches out and the nurse said every thing look good. Beemer
has not had to wear his e-collar…not once.
Of course, he has been under 24 hour surveillance…so not much chance of
getting away with anything.
His scar looks amazingly well. It started out as this big…

We had a good laugh this morning when I logged on to DK and was looking at the dogs available for adoption. I saw that Taffy went PENDING and I said wow, that was quick, she just came up yesterday. Hubby said, oh great, are Doodles now going to be your New Real Estate? You see, we moved to Ohio from Florida 2 years ago. We got caught in the beginning of the down slide of the real estate market in FL. It took us 17 months to sell our home (not to mention the thousands in price drops). Anyway, I…

This looks like an interesting bottle top waterer for dogs eliminating bowls and other devices. Inexpensive too. Bed , Bath and Beyond always has coupons and accepts any date on them.

So this weeks purchase was a beautiful bed at Costco. Just $19.99 and I think it's beautiful. It's very stuffed and it has cedar in it. Despite the fact that Luca chewed off some of the piping when he was a puppy, the old bed has worn quite well
The new bed on the right and an old Costco bed on the right.

I'm shaking. But I'm typing. This is that important.
I took Jack for a walk this afternoon, and we were walking past a yard when some dogs came rushing the fence barking ferociously. Suddenly, I had a leash in my hand, and Jack was at the fence barking back at them. Loose. Loose, in somebody's sideyard, with the street and the coming-home-after-work traffic about 100 feet away.
The snap pulled away from his leash. It was still attached to his harness.
I yelled…

Lucy and Sophie turn 2 years old today! I cannot believe that it has gone by so quickly. I remember when I found out that I needed to wait until they were a year old to start their Therapy Pet work ..... that seemed so far away. When they turned one, they still weren't ready so we waited even longer. Just doesn't seem possible that it has now been 2 years.
They told me this morning that when they said they wanted new toys for their birthday they did not mean I should go and bring a…

Let me try this again....I did something last time when I added the link and I lost my blog. I went out to Petfinder this morning like I do every day to see Izzy....her posting was gone. I sent one last follow-up to the shelter asking them what the status was, just so I could have some closure. They have never responded to any of my inquiries, so they probably won't respond this time either. Anyway, I'm so sad. I fell in love with that little girl, but I'm thinking it just wasn't meant to be. I…

We left the story as we were on the way home. After the call to my husband, our vet was next on the contact list. Just my luck-no room at the inn. They were booked up for the next few days. Nothing left to do but call in reinforcements. My mother in law wrangled an appointment with her vet and groomer for early the next morning. This was no small feat since her dog is uh let's just say "well known" in local animal care circles. Daisy is three pounds of Mr Hyde wrapped in a pound of poodle…

This weekend I flew down to visit my dad in Tampa. I stayed with my sister who lives in Gulfport. My visit coincided while Gulfport's semi-annual pet rescue festival. The city had closed off one of its main streets to traffic and there were loads of rescue groups (including 1 parrot and 1 rabbit rescue) and vendors. We had a great time walking up and down the street checking out all the pavilions. My sister had her Westie with her so we got to meet a lot of dogs. I met 2 LDs and 1 GD. They were…

I read this poem at another site I belong to and got permission to repost it here. I hope you enjoy it. :-)
Here in this house
Here in this house... I will never know the loneliness I hear in the
barks of the other dogs 'out there'.
I can sleep soundly, assured that when I wake, my world will not have changed.
I will never know hunger, or the
fear of not knowing if I'll eat. I will not shiver in the cold,
or grow weary
from the heat. I will feel the sun's…

Lucy and Sophie have no idea why I just took the new rug up out of the living room and put everything back in the closets, but they will find out this evening. This is Topper, he will be coming to stay with us this evening until we find him a wonderful forever home. I'll be letting everyone know how he is doing. If anyone is interested, get your apps in to the DRC. His current mom and dad say he is a wonderful puppy, but they are moving to an Apt. where they cannot have dogs. We shall see what…

This is going to be a little redundant. I have mentioned that Riley is very smart ( he is ) and very observant and apprised of all things around him. Basically, he is a chicken shxt, when it comes to being ahead of the curve in checking strange noises and happenings around the house( he is a minus 10 ). He hears the noise, but doesn't want to be a Colombo and check it out. Case in point. This morning, let him out for early am morning duties. Like normal went two feet out of the door stopped…

Clark, Natalie and I got back from vacation today. We were gone for 17 days and are THRILLED to be back home! There's only so much packing/unpacking one can take! Natalie traveled very well. Our trip took us to Redding, California for a weekend with good friends. Next came Southern California to see my family for one week. At the end of our week we joined about 15-16 other doodle families for a romp at Bev's (&Willy) home. There we got to see GBK with her…

Today is the one year anniversary of Phoebe's arrival into our family. We had moved to MN eight months prior and I had spent years telling my children they could not get a dog as I ran my house as a 'pet-free zone.' Seeing how miserable my two older children were here and how much they wanted a dog, I began doing some research and caved quickly after that. As a matter of fact, it was I who eagerly shared the news that the breeder I loved had just emailed with info on a new litter. I was…
