Post-Holiday Update on Penny the WonderDog's Cancer Treatment

Hi Everyone,

Lots of you DK friends and family have been checking in with me to see how Penny is doing with her chemo treatments. I apologize for not getting back to all of you personally, but these last few weeks have been quite a handful.  I have several members of my family fighting cancer, I've been looking after WonderDog, and I've had a few health problems myself to deal with. There are days I feel like I'm the living embodiment of "General Hospital." …

Working at home with Luna

We have had Luna for 9 months now, and I do a lot of work from home at my computer. Doing work from home with a puppy can be very distracting, but I am also very thankful that Luna is (generally) a well-mannered puppy.  These are some observations/reflections I have about working from home with our little pup.  I will be working more outside of the home starting in about a month, so I will miss a lot of this!

Happy Belated 2nd Birthday, Huff!

Huff turned 2 on June 30th. He is a big boy now. He is my big boy:) I didn't get a chance to post this earlier because I have been really busy lately and being out of school, I hardly ever use the computer. Anyways, we had a little party with balloons, doggy cake, party favors (tennis balls), doggy cookies, and doggy cupcakes. He got two presents, a tennis ball and a kong air fetch stick (it squeaks). His favorite one is the regular tennis ball. He just loves to hold and squeeze tennis balls…

4th of July Love on a Leash visit

This morning Murphy and I went on our first local nursing home visit. The founder of our St. Tammany Love on a Leash group emailed me yesterday and asked if we could join her and her Great Dane. It was a good visit and great day...well except for the lady with the tennis balls on her walker. Thank goodness she was such a dog person. She knew exactly what Murphy was doing.

Sandy said that one of the local stations contacted her and want to do a story on the group. This is the summer…

Silly, Silly Doodles

I think everyone is very familiar with the fact that Murph is my "challenge"....always has been.  Guinness, well he's always been the easy to figure out guy....what you see is what you get....well all except that thing about how he drinks his own pee right while he's going.   Never mind, that's old news.   Once we got Guinness through his IBS and put him on home cooking and I stopped even looking at him when he peed, it's been totally clear sailing with this guy.  A couple of weeks ago, little… Continue

Are you comfortable Princess Bella?

I must be doing something wrong in raising such an uninhibited Princess as I know my prudish English grandmother must be rolling over in her grave to see such wanton behavior in a young lady.  However, this pose just makes me giggle everytime I see her in it. She sleeps on her bed right by me at night and I will look over in the middle of the night and see this and have to stiffle a laugh. I always just have to get up and rub her belly.  I always ask her is she is comfortable, and she just…

Sunday Musings

It seems like Riley has been a part of our family forever.  It's not even two weeks but in that time our lives have been turned upside in a wonderful way.  Our children want to visit and friends we haven't seen in ages are arriving on a daily basis and a new dimension has been added to our lives.  As you know I have prepared well for Riley.

During the week a young person posted that she had taken on too much when she got her puppy.  The discussion was written after  only after one day…

HOUSE RULES

My wife's niece and her husband along with their two kids are going to visit us for a couple of day's in July.  The two kids are great, they have visited us before and have learned to love our dogs.  However, the niece and her hubby do not like dogs and think that they are dirty.

Rather than have any arguments I am posting a framed copy of this in full view.

Dog Walker?

I thought SophieBear loved her knew dog walker, at least I do. She uses biodegradable poop bags and makes home made doggie treats. She loves walking Sophie Bear and always comments on how well behaved she is on her walks.

Well, now I'm not so sure. I received my June bill yesterday and SophieBear was quick to let me know what she thought about it.

An Annual Event on Newfoundland Shores

Every year at the end of June or early in July the annual Rolling of the Capelin begins. This is a cause for much excitement and lots of fun.Capelin are small fish that come to our beaches every year to spawn, it can be difficult to accurately predict their arrival which is why we make many trips to Middle Cove to seek signs of their arrival, lucky for us… Continue
