oo7dessYesterday we took a walk with an elderly neighbor and her two papillon dogs in the field, it was so much fun! Vanessa and Sable were both chasing butterflies in the field, I felt like I was watching a Hallmark card photo shoot! Also yesterday, I put out the kiddie pool and plopped Sable in there, she was NOT impressed and swiftly got out, oh well, we'll wait till next year for swimming lessons.
Today: Today there were quite a few accidents in the house... Sable has become a…

We had fun the other day in the photo studio with our Mija.
Here are a few shots we came away with...not bad I'd say, it really captures her unique color!
Hope you enjoy these!
SAY CHEESE, MIJA!!
And, just one more....look up here!
LOL!
All we need is a fake back-drop of books,
and,
these would become Mija's yearbook…

So I came home today to a hint of 'accident' aroma in the air, but it wasn't strong (or my nose is plugged). I went immediately into doggy dinner mode because as soon as they had THEIRS I could eat MINE in peace.
I scoop up Cass' food and deliver it to her bowl.
Next I scoop up Rosco's food and ... deliver it... Ummm...there's a massive turd behind Rosco who is behind his bowl. My evening flashes before me and I try to ESP to Rosco "Whatever you do...DO NOT step backwards dear…

Sookie the Genius Dog is now 8 weeks old and doing fabulously well. Her favorite things are hot dogs (we use tiny bits for training), toilet paper tubes, the cats, and ice cubes. Potty training is going swimmingly: not a single #2 in the house since we got her, and she now heads downstairs to wait by the door every time the urge strikes. Crate training is also moving along. There is much less whining at night, only when she needs to go out...which she still does 3-4 times per night. When did…

Sunday is my family day...Conor and I take Lady Peri and Taquito for a day at mom and dad's....they play with Cousin Charley and Aunt Lucy outside, while we visit with mom, dad, grandmother and my sister. It is usually a fun day!
Last night we enjoyed a great dinner outside. The dogs were running around having fun. We went inside after dinner to work on a puzzle and have some wine. Peri stayed outside with Lucy (terrier). Lady P is used to being over there and tends to get into my…

Well, this blog post is way off topic, but I think it is an important lesson for everyone so I decided to post it on here anyways... here is my story.
Saturday evening I had just gotten done working my second job as a cheer instructor. I had decided to run to Walmart to pick up a few things that I knew we would need for our honeymoon. I was standing in the travel stuff isle picking out small size shampoo, hair spray, etc... when this older woman approached me and…

Sugar-Free Gum and Snacks Can be Deadly for Pets
by Kirsten Taylor - Sep 8th 2009 11:00AM - I copied this from Paw Nation on AOL.
PLEASE read this and share with your families - especially your kids
Most pet owners know that
chocolate is a big no-no for dogs. But here's something to chew on: a common ingredient in sugarless gum and snacks can cause a canine catastrophe.
The culprit is a sweetener called
xylitol. While you may never have…

Harlow is still getting car sick whenever she goes for a ride which is at least 2 to 3 times a week. I was researching on the web (and DK) for natural remedies for preventing car sickness. Several articles mentioned fresh ginger or gingersnaps. So today I tried the gingersnaps. I used the gingersnaps as treats while we practiced our obedience. I waited an hour before our car ride so Harlow could digest. We weren’t even 2 miles down the road before Harlow up-chucked in the car seat. Thankfully,…

Last Thursday as I sat alone in my car in an empty parking lot. I left the rear car door open for a breeze to pass through. You know the type of car--great power windows and only one window will roll down.
Okay, so I am sitting there listening to the radio and reading a book when I felt my car move around like someone had gotten into my back seat. PETRIFIED! I couldn't move.
Heavy breathing. Oh Gawd, shut my eyes and hold my breath. Think quick. I just can't…

Today after church it rained, and my 3 1/2 year old played with Sable outside for a while. The result was a filthy doodle! So I took my friend Jennifer (of Grandview's) advice, and after bathing her, I trimmed the fur under her paws, to reduce the tracking in of dirt. I also trimmed around her eyes and nose, I think it is called a "beard" in doodle world. And I used my thinning shears for that look. I'll post an "after picture" later tonight. She is so cute and fluffy!
Here is the…

I took Max to the vet yesterday to have his eye checked again. He has entropion of the eye. It is a condition where his lower eye lid rolls under and irritates his eye. He is a little over 5 months old and I thought I might need to go ahead and get the surgery on his eye. It had been tearing alot. There are four vets at the clinic I take him two and I have gotten several different opionion there about when to do the surgery. I have had his eye tacked down twice to reduce the irritation to his…

Saturday is traditionally "Donut Day" at our house. My super sweet Mother in Law, (ha ha ha, aren't you jealous? I love my MIL to pieces, she's awesome!) Anyway, since we liv in the sticks on a farm, there are no bakeries within about 13 miles of us in either direction. Once a week, the local mom and pop shop variety store/gas station, called "Pratt's Store" on 22A gets a few gazillion dozen donuts for their local patrons, and we have coffee & donuts! Hmmmm, maybe that's why I can't shake…

THE WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE DOG:
TODAY staff
updated 9:05 a.m. CT, Fri., Sept . 11, 2009
It sounds like a shaggy dog story, but it isn’t. A Tibetan Mastiff is believed to have broken the record as the world’s most expensive dog — sold to a young Chinese millionaire for a mind-blowing $582,000.
The owner, known only as Ms. Wang, traveled to Qinghai province of northwest China to purchase the 18-month old dog, named…

I think I may have to switch to weekly Diary entries soon, I'm afraid I won't be able to come up with anything new and exciting to dish about! Today Sable went to the bank (in my arms of course) and got a doggie biscuit from the UPS guy, who delivered my new pair of Kenchii Thinning Shears! They look so pretty, I can't wait to make my first snip. Also of interest, I stopped by a local groomer who shares her space with a pet-supply gal (small local shop), and got some puppy-safe compressed…

Puppies for Sale PDF Print E-mail
A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the 4 pups And set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the eyes of little boy.
"Mister," he said, "I want to buy one of your puppies."
"Well," said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat off the back of his neck, "These puppies come from fine parents…

Oogy, an amazing Dog
When Oogy was four months old and weighed thirty five pounds he was tied to a stake and used as bait for a Pit Bull. The left side of his face from just behind his eye was torn off, including his ear. He was bitten so hard a piece of his jaw bone was crushed. Afterward, he was thrown into a cage and left to bleed to death.
I am not a religious man, but I can only conclude that at that moment God turned around and paid attention. The police raided the…

I Am A Big Adult Rottweiler and I Should Not Cry
Written by Esther Berlanga-Ryan
Have you ever wondered what any of those dogs at the Humane Society are thinking? I know I have. His name, Reich. This could have been his story…
I am a big adult Rottweiler and I should not cry…but why am I here? I really cannot remember what I did wrong.
A few days ago they looked at me different, but I thought it was just their way of letting me know that life was…
