Judy and I just drove up to Fallbrook, CA (about 25 miles from us) to pick up a pair of 6-month old puppies from a young Marine and his wife. They are flying home tomorrow to Arkansas on Christmas leave and then the Marine will be deploying to Afghanistan. He is leaving his wife and son at home and we will find homes for the puppies...
What struck me in meeting this young man was how young he looked. He was probably less than twenty years old and was small in stature. I…

Harleo's Adventures
Just when I thought I was on to something, I find out I was wrong or perhaps, not quite ready!
Remember when I boasted (yes I did!) in a blog post titled: GRADUATION NIGHT FOR THE THREE OF US(Oct 25,12). I made fun of myself and the…

The day after Thanksgiving, when the Christmas season officially kicks off, Milton likes to begin sporting his festive holiday attire, and since the Milt is a dog (I hate to admit it!) that means his Christmas collar! …

We watched the 121212 concert to benefit those who are still in dire straights from Hurricane Sandy. Adam Sandler was fantastic.
For those who ever lived or visited the NY/NJ area, will find this even funnier.
It is not for little ears. Hope you enjoy!!
this link should work!

Cross your fingers everyone--Lyric was bred on Monday--this time it took forever for her progesterone levels to rise, the the breeding was about a week later than usual, so who knows what will happen. But if it worked, she will be due in early February--the dad this time is white and curly so the pups should be creams--what fun!
In the meantime, Rio has been quite a mess since Lyric has started her heat and, of course, he can't go near her--she was with the breeder for a week…

The other day I was talking to my mother on the phone and out of the blue she said she was talking about my dogs at the dinner table and told everyone that even though I won’t admit it, Vern is my favorite. Her statement really made me mad and I told her that was simply not true and I feel just about the same way I would if she said I was playing favorites with my daughters. My youngest daughter gets mad at me when I tell Fudge she is my favorite brown dog and always makes me add…

Many of you may remember last year (in June 2011) my very good friend lost her youngest child Crystal in a car accident.
Well two days ago her eldest boy Jamey was transported (35) to U of M medical center with a brain bleed.
He seemed to be doing better but last night he started complaining about another bad headache and it seems he has another area that started to bleed. He is back in NEURO ICU and is having…

All my life has been lately is paint/grade, paint/grade, paint a LOT, and grade some MORE! This old house is an awful lot of work. It seems to have come at a bad time when I have endless stacks of multiples of 94 papers in the crush of work prior to Christmas vacation. It hasn't even felt like Christmas around here because Jeff and I have been working so hard. We have not dabbled in the traditional Elf viewing or seasonal shopping outings. We have been moonlighting as painters in…

The holidays are a time for families and also apparently a time to try and off load your dog. Maybe I just have more exposure to it now or maybe I’m just more aware than I used to be but it seems like every time I turn around, I hear about someone who is giving up their dog for some reason or another and I’m not just talking about doodles. It seems like the closer we get to the holidays, the more people are trying to get rid of their dogs. I belong to a distribution list at work where…

Recently we have been allowing Milt to sleep in the free wild outside of his cage. Thus far, it has worked out pretty well. Each evening, on my side of the bed, I place all the bed throw pillows which encourages Milton to sleep right by my side, of course, where he belongs. He remains there for the majority of the night, unless he is a bit hot or restless and will wander somewhere else in the room. There is also the occasion when Jeff gets annoyed by Milton's travels, and he pens him…

Save me from myself – PLEZZZZZ
Late yesterday I received a call from Olde Towne Pet Resort in Sterling, VA. Ashley (Harley’s first love when she worked at the Springfield location) explained that they were waiting on the arrival of a Goldendoodle named “Willy” who needed a new home, and she was wondering if any of Harley & Leo’s blog post readers might be interested.
Meet Willy……

I am going out this morning to buy supplies to board up my house. I haven’t decided if I just need brown paper to cover the windows or if I need actual boards and large nails, but I do know I need to make it so two Doodles cannot look out of the foyer windows.
Curtains could work, too, but would be far less dramatic. I also know I need plenty of Sharpies to write…

Hi All!!!
I figured that since MOST of you reading this are people I would put my age in terms you can understand-people years!! Hee hee! Hope I didn't shock you too much!!! If there are any doodles (Banjo or JD) reading this I am 4 years old!
I've been around a long time now and I've really changed a lot over my 29 years. Here I am with one of my sibs shortly after I was born. I'm on the left, the one with the gigantic head that is too big for my body. Mom says it's because…

I have a ALD who is a breeding female, about 2 1/2 years old, Dolly. She is in her first week of her 3rd heat cycle. We did nothing the first cycle but the second time, the breeder drove 3 hours each way to pick up a male for Dolly's first hot date. Well, my little Dolly must be related to "Vern" cuz she's afraid of a lot of things and is pretty nervous about other dogs. A few days before the big day, she started flagging her tail at Tura, our other female Labradoodle so I knew the…

After a week of being a quiet doodle after Thanksgiving Haley has gone in the opposite direction this week. First, he is the "energizer doodle" wanting to fetch his ball constantly. My arm is getting sore!
Monday he got overly excited about the tractor parked beside our property and when I called him he came running in his excited/prancing full speed ahead pace and spun me around and knocked me down. I landed on my back. My ankle got twisted and is swollen but does not hurt. The…
