Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
My dogs and I walk every day up at our nearby park. I love to walk in the cold weather, because I don’t have to worry about snakes. I hate snakes and since I am always frantically looking for them, I usually am the one to see them on our walks. I also know when I am walking with my husband and he turns suddenly and says, “let’s go a different way,” that translates to “snake up ahead and husband does not want to have ear drums blown out by screaming wife.” How I raised two kids who are…

Posting pictures of the newest member of our family, Bernie. We decided to go the puppy route and are soooo happy. We have a new goldendoodle named Bernie. We pick him up in a week, and it is going to be the longest week of our lives. Thank you to everyone for all you suggestions. More pictures to come...

Lilly is 7 1/2 months old and this was her first major car ride. Let me start by saying she is a drama queen. If a tiara would stay on her head, I would buy her one. When we brought her home at 8 wks, I should have had a clue. She cried and yelled for the first 45 minutes of the two hr trip. This little thing just tossed back her head and let it rip. She also still hates her crate and will cry when she has to go in it. That being said, I was well prepared for the trip by stealing a few of…

It took all day, but I am ready to post some brand new pics of the 5 day old puppies--be prepared for an overload of cuteness!!

And what a week it's been! I'm exhausted. And by the time my contractor gets done today I'll be broke too. Well, not really but I will be wincing when I write that check!
In retrospect Lachlan was so easy I was terribly spoiled. He's the kind of dog that even as a pup, when presented with something new, would sit back and think about it before doing anything. Declan, on the other hand, just lands on it. I'm calling him my Little Furry Wrecking Ball and the two of them collectively…

I have been promising DRC updated pictures of Ginger for her Petfinder listing... I have been trying, but being less than successful. First I was practicing using the photo effects offered on my Droid smartphone...
In the sunlight you can see some of…

During the winter we check in on my elderly mother more often to clean the snow and salt from the walks and driveway. As I was trying to find a snow brush in her car to attack the snow and ice, I found a Big Blue exercise ball in her car. I looked at my husband and both of our eyes looked with fear. I don’t know what scares me more, the thought of this 87 year old woman driving a car to a get a Big Blue Ball or trying to balance her body in some sort of contortion doing…

Yep, that's right, we've finally met one of Sheba's family and we are fostering her for the DRC. Sheba and Brianne share the same poodle mother but Sheba's dad is a GR and Brianne's dad is a Newfie. Sheba was born Christmas Day, 2008 and Brianne was born July 4th, 2011. When I got Sheba and Duke I was not very educated about back yard breeders, puppy mills etc. Thanks to the DRC and Doodlekisses I've learned so much. Although I do regret doing business with…

This week has been a tough week on DoodleKisses. I am at a loss for words and that almost never happens. Peaceful sleeping has eluded me and I know I am not alone. I would like to say I can’t eat, but that is not how I deal with stress either. For me, it started with the DRC “Home 4 the Holidays” slideshow. I watched the show from beginning to end and was so touched by all the stories, but I couldn’t shake the image of Moses. His story broke my heart. He had been beaten or kicked by…

Luna is definitely a dog who LOVES winter! Her Winter antics are an endless source of entertainment.
You know your dog is a snow dog when:
- When her paws get cold she plops down in the snow, chews the snow out from between her pads and resumes playing
- After a new snowfall, she runs around the back yard like a maniac,…

So all of the folders are collated and labeled, microchipping, wellness check, last night of crate training has been done. This morning the puppies all raced for the outside door the second their crates were open. Not one stopped to do its business on the floor. The last week is always hard. They change and grow so fast that it is hard to stay ahead of them. They suddenly all seem to have such distinct personalities. Calls change from inquiries about buying a puppy to anxious new…

Have a funny one. Last night my wife went down to put Riley to bed for the night in his crate. Room was dark. Riley, came in after doing his nightly duties. He normally goes right into his crate, crate door is then closed and locked. That is the only way he likes to go to bed. Well, he must of zigged left and did not go into his crate. My wife assumed he was in the crate and locked the door. We couldn't figure out why Riley was barking after being put to bed. After and hour of my…

Traveler isn’t much interested in the ocean, unless a wave sneaks up behind him and gets his feet wet. Somehow I always expect him to be really excited about seeing a huge expanse of moving water, but he’s much more interested in whatever driftwood he can find and drag over to me, hoping for a good game of chase. Driftwood was sparse during one section of a walk, but he did find an orange. Why would there be a lone orange on an unpopulated beach? Darned if I know! If a dog could say ‘ick,’…

I can't believe my sweet baby Murphy turned two years old today! Murphy is my first dog in my adult life...he has totally changed my world. There are no words to explain the love that I feel for my Murphy Doodle. He is the sweetest, most soulful, sensitive, intuitive and brilliant creature I have ever known. I had no idea how big my heart was until Murphy came into my life. He is "my special little man" and will always be my baby Murph no matter how old he gets. He celebrated his…

Now, i know you breeders out there will find this story ho-hum, but to a newbie like me, this was BIG! Here is what happened.
I agreed to host a pregnant dog for my breeder to whelp her pups and keep them for a week or so while she settled in after a long trip. As usual, the breeder would come right over as soon as it looked like the whelping was imminent and I would call her when we were close to that point.

Last week, I was in the process of putting all of our Holiday stuff away and Tuesday, I worked most of the day de-constructing Christmas. In between that tedious task, the dogs and I went for two long walks in frigid temperatures and I even cooked dinner. All in all, a productive day and I was looking forward to kicking back and relaxing after dinner and checking out the happenings on DoodleKisses. Back into our bedroom I went, along with Fudge and Vern, both tired out from their walks and…

For those of you who have not read this, no worries, I will try not to give anything major away.
All I will tell you is that "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein may be one of my favorite books of all time. I resisted the urge to read this for a few years (because it is an animal book and we know how these can be emotional!). However, my sister and mom both read it over the past few months and passed it along to me as a "MUST READ". Again, this book came out in…

On January 10, 2012, our Vern turns two. He has grown into a big dog, all ninety pounds of him, and we cannot imagine our life without him. Every morning, the first living thing to greet me is Vern. He swings by our bed and stands staring at us until we open our eyes. He stands there wagging his tail, with a smile on his face, even though some mornings we ask him to stop by later after we have slept a little longer. No matter how nicely we ask, he continues to stand there wagging his…
