I have just gotten home from a trip to pick up Tapas, a lovely chocolate LD who had pups here with me a few years ago--she is now expecting 6 pups and is due sometime in the next few days. I will have them here with me for 5 weeks and then they go to the breeder's houser and I can put my feet up! Two weeks later, Lyric will be due, so I will need to get some rest!
I will keep you all posted on the birth of the litter and of course, will be happy to share pictures with my puppy loving…

Hi everyone! I have been getting some pictures of Lyric's last litter and thought you might like to see how GORGEOUS the kids are getting! 17 weeks old now! All are doing so well with their puppy classes and training--such a smart litter!
I can't get all the pics into this post--sometimes this happens where I add a bunch of photos and then it won't let me add any more! So Scotty (formerly Nemo) will be in the comment section...
This is Pesca, the big curly girl named Peaches at…

This article is about actual research done to see just how long today's vaccines will protect a dog--the vet who conducted the research is urging vets to vaccinate less frequently. Of course, this comes at a time when many vets are already struggling to pay the bills, so who knows if they will listen--that is why we will have to advocate for our pooches!…

I have gotten a picture of each of the 7 pups now that they are over 12 weeks old--and would like to share them with you--some you have already seen as Cisco is owned by a new DKer (Kim Starbuck) and Lucy's picture was featured in the last blog post--but it is nice to see them all together, so I will include those...such a lovely litter--and they were so well behaved--but, it IS NICE to have my life back....

With a great deal of emotion, I delivered Sweetie to her guardian home on Saturday--the new owners are lovely, have a great house and yard and lots of time and love for her, BUT it was still hard to say good bye to this very special girl. She just has a way of reading you and what you want that is remarkable--she will hopefully be a therapy dog someday because she would be awesome--hoping she has puppies here in a few years--
Here are some pics of the little pup taken at her…

I am still hosting three pups here--Lucky, now Cooper, has come back while his parents celebrate their anniversary in Paris--and Sweetie, who was Penny, needs a guardian home so is here--we have had some solid leads on a new home for her and I am very hopeful. The third is Peaches, also known as Pesca--she is going to meet a family tomorrow and I will be very surprised if she is not what they have been looking for--she loves little boys and they have two! I think she will wag her tail right…

So, time has flown and two pups left today and one more goes tomorrow! How did that happen so fast!
Of course, there is some prep work before they leave--a little trim, the nails clipped and the BATH!
Here are the two families with their pups--the boy with Frosty is 11 and has wanted a pup since he was a very small child--he was one happy kid!…

Hi all--the pups have been keeping me very busy and no time for blogging! I have had a LOT of company as everyone wants to come see the puppies now that they have reached that cute as a button stage--and of course, the socializing is great for them. Also my son has come home for Spring break so I want to spend some time with him too!
But I have some new pics that were taken by me and by a new friend--some of you may know Madeline who owned Mowgli, a giant GD that was an…

After trying for several years to put up temporary puppy enclosures and struggling to keep them inside of those enclosures, I finally got some kennels and put them together to make a play yard for the pups while they are here--I have been picking up some bigger toys for it and also got a big piece of artificial turf to cut down on the mud until the grass grows in...We had to clear the snow off the ground first and then we assembled everything. Here are the pups exploring the new set up and…

I posted a video on Youtube today of the puppies playing and settling in for a nap--I don't want to jinx it, but these guys are so sweet and play so quietly! Make sure you have the volume up though so you can hear the tiny yawn at the beginning--then there is some fun music from Yo-Yo Ma and others--the CD called Goat Rodeo Sessions--They will probably sue me---oh dear...
The puppies are now getting their teeth and eating three times a day! Lyric is enjoying some time to…

We had a relaxed feeding session last night--Lyric is not usually one to dawdle and leaves the whelping room when the pups are fed--but I sat in there with her last night and there was a sweet half hour of eating and cuddle time before the pups nodded off-she is a much more relaxed momma this time around --got some cute pics....…

OK, so winter gets a bit boring and cabin fever sets in--the next thing you know, you are looking for something fun to do! So, how about finding some fun hats to put on the pups and take pictures! Hey, what about those hats that the teddy bears wear in the collection I have--I bet they would just fit!
This is the conversation my husband and I had today--and the results were hilarious--but remember, no pups were hurt in the making of these photos--they had just had their lunch and were…

Lyric's pups are now between 2 and 3 pounds and are just starting to walk (well, it is really more like staggering...) and hear things. The eyes will be open in a few days--can't wait! they are very good--they eat and sleep with hardly a peep out of them in between--of course, the credit goes to Lyric who has been a fantastic momma so far--she takes care of them so well and when they are sleeping, she goes over to the corner of the room and sleeps too--good girl, Lyric!
She loves the…

UPDATE:SEE MY LATEST COMMENT FOR TODAY'S CLOSE-UPS!
Wow--what a long two days--Lyric's labor started at around 12 am on Wednesday Feb 6th--she kept me up all night (didn't want to leave her alone just in case) and then I stayed with her all thru the day on Wednesday--it continued into the wee hours of Thursday morning--and she paced and panted but no progress....finally at 2 am, I said"OK Lyric, let's get in the whelping box and get this started". I went in and sat…

Lyric is now in labor--it is cold and flurries are falling but we are cozy in the 75 degree whelping room--could be any time now--she has stopped eating and her temp has dropped over a degree--a sure sign that whelping is imminent.
So exciting!! Will update you all later with photos--I am hoping we make it to the 7th of February for a bunch of reasons--first, 7 is a lucky number and Lyric is having 7 pups so on the 7th would be even luckier. Second, it is my parents' 70th wedding…
