Ten beautiful babies arrived right on time September 4.  4 Girls and 6 boys.  Maggie was a little confused about the whole thing in the beginning but has settled down to become a great mama.  Getting up every few hours to check on the babies and mom really takes a tole on my sleep but It is something that I feel I have to do.  Really need to invest in one of those picture baby monitors.

So last year my beautiful Maggie decided to wait to come into heat until all of my six children and their families (18 of them) rented a house together at the beach..  That breeding had to be canceled of course. My dogs do love marrow bones.  They follow me back and forth from the car when I'm unloading the groceries with hope in their eyes.  They stand by the chest freezer in the basement, whenever i open it up, just hoping for their favorite treat.  Finally I bow under their collective stares and hand out bones.  Oh how I hate bone breath.  Everyone settles down to a good bone chewing session.  It is funny to watch them swap back and forth, always thinking someone else has a better bone then…

Just had one of my new puppy families call and tell me that when she took her pup to the vet for a check to comply with my guarantee, that the vet told her they had just confirmed that a dog had come in with Parvo. They let her know while she was in the waiting room.  I was so glad I had told all my new families not to let the puppies touch the floor or be handled or touched by anyone but the vet.  She beat a hasty retreat and cloroxed her shoes before stepping onto her property. 

So all of the folders are collated and labeled, microchipping, wellness check, last night of crate training has been done. This morning the puppies all raced for the outside door the second their crates were open.  Not one stopped to do its business on the floor.  The last week is always hard.  They change and grow so fast that it is hard to stay ahead of them.  They suddenly all seem to have such distinct personalities.  Calls change from inquiries about buying a puppy to anxious new…

The puppies are four weeks old now and it is hard not to sit an watch them constantly.  It is amazing to hold a little baby in my hand and  look at his full sister, who is 14 months old, and realize that he will grow into this funny, sweet, smart, long haired boisterous dog, in less than a year. Their physical development just fascinates me.  Being a developmental therapist for 32 years, I've done tons of research on developmental stages of puppies during the fist 8 weeks and beyond.…

Because we live in a very rural area, I've always had a very difficult time finding a good dog sitter.  Last year our only neighbor's girl friend moved in with him.  She was great with the dogs.  She would play with them, feed them, exercise them and then email me every day to tell me about it.  It was the most worry free vacation I've had in years.  Then I got the phone call.  My neighbor tells me that his girlfriend has moved out and found another man.  I begged him to take her back, to…

So Lynne decided to build all these boxes in the back yard.  To my delight she planted my favorite treat, bell pepper plants. Hooray.  This will make it a lot easier for me than waiting until she leaves the garden gate open.  Every morning, I make the round of  the plant boxes to check out how the peppers are doing.  Finally they reached just the right stage.  I reached in with my teeth and picked it off the bush.  Im really good at not disturbing the bush.  I picked the whole bush out of the… Continue

Met lots of great doodle people and the wonderful beautiful doodles.  About 35 doodles attended.  They weighed from 12 to 20 pounds.  Every color of the rainbow.  Were from 5th generation Rutland manor labradoodles to rescues.  Fun was had by all.  Owners and doodle left tired but happy.

It just so happened that two of my puppies from my October English Golden Doodle litter, wanted to come visit me this weekend.  Just in time for the Snelville(near Atlanta) doodle romp.  The first thing Maggie did when she got out of the car was to head straight for the goldfish pond.  A winters worth of fish sludge and she came out green and smelling like a fish.  Wanting her to make a good impression at the doodle romp, it was bath time.  Louie Moon, who has been with me for several days…

Luna is a 1 year old GD from a previous litter of mine. She came to visit and Fae and her 3 week litter of goldendoodles. Fae was more protective of her toy then she was of her puppies. After Fea checked Luna out, Luna was allowed to get up close and personal with the puppies, as long as she kept her distance from the toy!
