So last night was the same as any other for me and Remington... we watched TV together while Dan got ready for work. We always head off to bed right after Dan leaves... but I must admit Dan left that night a little bit early around 9:30ish when he usually leaves about 10ish... so Remington and I went off to bed. At about 4 o'clock I was awakened by Remington jumping off the bed. He does this sometimes and goes and sleeps in the bathroom where its cooler, but this time he stood down there on the floor looking up at me. I told him to get back up on the bed but he wouldn't. It was then I realized that he had PEED ON MY BED! I could not believe it. We have not had an accident probably since he was 4 months old! It wasn't a lot, but it went through my comforter, sheets, mattress pad, clear to the protector (thank goodness that was in place). I was really mad, plus it was 4 in the morning! ARE YOU SERIOUS! So outside we go... he peed for the longest time out there. Once back inside I realized that he was covered in his own pee like on the right side of his leg. YUCK! I started to think then that maybe he had been sleeping and had a dream about peeing and just did it accidentally because how else would one side of him be covered in pee? ODD! I guess I'll never know the answer to the question really... it's just my guess of how it happened! UHHHGGG!

So... I called Dan and told him about it and explained to him that I wanted to get my comforter dry cleaned because I was afraid if I washed it myself that I would ruin it. Of course he didn't want to do that because it would cost too much money and insisted that I just throw it in the washer... so I did reluctantly. After it was done washing I opened the machine and sure enough, ruined! The washer had torn it and the stuffing was coming out! GRRRRRRRRRR!

I have been spending the remainder of my morning trying to find that same comforter, but it is out of stock or they aren't selling it anymore! AHHHHHHHHHHH! I'm pretty sad! The weird thing is, that I'm more mad at Dan for insisting that I wash it than I am at Remington for peeing on the bed! I know crazy... right?

I just saw Jane's response and started laughing. I agree! I have only been married 1 1/2 years, but have figured out the buy-then-tell-later deal! Started out saying we would get permission for items over a certain amount. That figure moves higher and higher....nothing huge BUT I would have bought the darn comforter!

Okay....Two very important lessons have just been learned here. #1...Take my non-washable down feather comforter off my bed ASAP and do NOT buy that $200.00 comforter I had my eye on and find a cheaper, washable one. and #2.....buy a mattress protector with that cheaper, washable comforter.
What's even more freaky, is that Murphy who is now 11 months old and has accidents occassionally, like when we don;t know he's gotten up at night and wants to go out and can;t hold it, or had explosive diarreha last month during a time of day he was left for a few hours. And then today he urinated 2 times during the day while we were all home. Maybe we missed the "going to the door" message, but twice!!! SO an accident in the bed just seems like something I should anticipate. Going to Bed bath and beyond tomorrow! He's also taking amoxicillin 250 mg 2 x a day and is on his second week. I will have to research if that can cause accidents,

Oh what a terrible awful night. I have long since abandoned lovely, expensive, difficult to wash comforters, in favor of cheap, easy to wash quilts. Orvis online sells a wonderful dog proof bed cover for about $200. But my $39 quilts last through dozens and dozens of washings, they get washed nearly as often as the sheets, because the dogs bring dirt onto them.

Oh what an awful night you had. It really doesn't sound like Remington did this intentionally, poor guy. Now as for Dan... I'm sure he's learned his lesson, which is that he should have listened to you in the first place - a new comforter will cost him a lot more than a dry cleaning bill!

Now that is a bad night! Two lessons here....never, ever tell DH in advance that you plan to spend money. Just do it and then claim ignorance later. It's worked for me for over 30 years. Second, I would go with the washable comforter. I had to do that when I started allowing Guinness on the bed. He's never p'd (yet), but I find it just gets dirty from him laying on it.

I feel better now about still having Toby sleep in his crate in our room at night. Sorry for your horrible night and your ruined comforter.
