I've been sort of watching several rescue sites lately for a small, female, mini goldendoodle. Not for myself, but a friend. I've just sort of come to feel that the majority of the doodles in…Continue

Yesterday AnnaBelle had to have her teeth cleaned. AnnaBelle is 6 years old and Lucy is 11. Lucy has beautiful teeth and has never had to have them cleaned. We tried brushing AnnaBelles when she…Continue

I know we have talked about should we or shouldn't we before, but yesterday was our annual Vet visit for Lucy and AnnaBelle. I know one of the many reasons I've heard that a lot of Vets don't do or…Continue

Even though it has been 4 years now since we lost her, there are those times that her presence shows itself. Most of the time it is through AnnaBelle as they are so similar. However, when I came…Continue

March is a big month here at our house. It is sadly when we will have the 1st anniversary of loosing our Sophie but it is also the birthday month for both girls and we are going to choose to celebrate those rather than be sad at missing our Sophie ... as she would want us to celebrate! Miss Lucy gets to go first. Today is Lucy's 6th birthday. It is hard to believe that it has been six years since they came home. …

This time last year we were about 4 weeks into the 7 weeks of crate confinement for Lucy after her CCL surgery. Sophie was a wonderful Sister and stayed by Lucy's side and tried to be understanding of why she couldn't play. We were all anxiously awaiting January when we would be spending the month at the beach in Florida watching the girls play in the surf and enjoy playing on the beach. At times it seems like only yesterday and at times it seems like a long year. It was the same day…

I think that I need to get myself one of those Gardening Aprons to use as a Puppy Apron. That or maybe I've come up with a new Gimmick that I could sell to all the new Doodle Moms that are spending $3000 in the first few months of getting their puppies! It's gotta have lots of pockets of different sizes, be made with some nice fabrics with Doodles on it and come in either Pink or Blue! I'm a little out of practice with this puppy business. Plus, I've never had a puppy a grumpy 5 year…

In the mail today I received a box with a wonderful "Thinking of You" card telling me to just be sure to take care of myself with all sorts of wonderful goodies to pamper myself including the most required pampering item there is (which of course is chocolate). This box touched me in ways I can never even begin to appropriately express. The reason being, it was from a young college student. We all know that college students are usually living on Raman Noodles and stretching every single…
ContinueI saw some photos you uploaded of AnnaBelle. She is the most adorable doodle ever!
Thanks so much for your kind words and support. It's now been almost a week since Sedona crossed over the Rainbow Bridge and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. She was six - healthy, happy, goofy one day and gone less than 48 hours later. Our house is so quiet, our daily routines are off, things are just not right!! The love and support from the DK community has been wonderful and really has helped ease the pain. We know we can't replace Sedona, but we're already in the process of bringing home a new doodle to love. In fact, we'll get one in January and another later this spring. Just the thought of a new puppy has raised our spirits greatly. Like several friends have pointed out - Sedona would want us to be happy and share our love again!!
Hugs,
Deanna
Thanks for the great Christmas card! Loved the picture inside. I hope Mike and you and the girls have a great Christmas!!
Thanks! yeah I have definitely read up on parvo and many other diseases. My breeder recommended a great book by Diane Klumb which has a lot of good info on things like that. Thank you for the warning so I guess push back the play date till august.
Thank you for thinking of us....all is well. It is hard to believe that it has been almost one year since DH had his heart attack....he is doing wonderfully. Beemers hip surgeries were almost four years ago now and he is doing great. We wish your family a happy and healthy holiday.....blessings....
You are so lucky to be a stay at home Doodle mom! I saw your post and couldn't help but identify with all that DK and our dogs have given me. We got our first, Mater in 2007. I remember seeing your post in 2008 when you brought home two littermates after never having a big dog! My sympathies went out to you! We had no idea how big Mater would be, but he stays around 80 lbs now and is still a bouncing Joyful pup. He has been a therapy dog since he turned one, and has quite a reputation for himself!
I can't imagine your grief at losing Sophie; it has to be one of life's biggest challenges to get through losing a furchild. Your pictures show beautiful dogs, and you do a great job with their grooming! Kemp tried to tell me how to sissor-cut Ozzie, but I end up paying someone - and it takes her 3 hours to do him!
We also fostered for DRC, and enjoyed a number of Doodles in treatment for heartworm. Mater calmed them down and taught them the house rules - he's been the greatest tutor! Our favorite was Cash, who ended up in a wonderful home near Chicago and spends summers in Colorado at grandmas with his girls! At least he was our favorite until we rescued Pippin and brought him home to foster - becoming foster failures in a huge way! I still have a special love for that little guy. Then we (I) decided a black doodle was in order, so in 2011 we drove to Northern Michigan and picked up baby Ozzie, who is now a giant even though he only weighs 60 lbs! Not ready to leave well enough alone, I rescued a little mutt from just south of Cincinnati. I almost wasn't allowed back in the house! Four dogs is crazy, but they are so much fun too. Three of them are therapy dogs now, and my passion has become the work that I do for our local organization Paws and Think. Sadly I'm still working, so between a job that takes well over 50 hours a week, I spend about 20 hours a week in front of a different computer doing volunteer work for them. I know I'll foster again some day, but for now we have a houseful and I love the work we do together. I think if I were retired I'd be on DK when I wasn't volunteering. This site is like being home, and you know wherever you go you will find Doodle friends and never be alone. I love it here!
I have just been reading your story, and of course have tears in my eyes. What beautiful doodles have touched your lives. I am so happy that you are now blessed with AnnaBelle to help not only you, and DH, but as a little sister to Lucy. What a beautiful blanket Laurie made for you. This is truly an amazing site with so many thoughtful and caring members.
Oh I'm so happy you accepted my friend request. Thanks for the welcome...it's so nice to talk with such lovely people. Everyone on DK just seems so warm & so friendly. I look forward to getting to know you better and keeping in touch. So sorry to hear about your beautiful Sophie. We lost our beloved Golden Retriever Jack 6 months ago...and still to this day my heart still aches...it's so hard losing them...they leave such a huge hole in your heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you. So glad you have your beautiful Lucy and your sweet AnnaBelle.
Take care,
Michelle & Ellie
