Someone told me that the dog will usually stay the color of it's ears as they get older. Cooper is 12 weeks old and we love his color. Another person said apricot pups turn whitish as they get older. Seems like an odd statement.

Any experience out there with this color?

Thanks!

Ours had more reddish apricot ears and that is more the color we liked. He is pretty much cream now except he has a reddish tinge closer to the skin. I describe it as a blaze but very light. He also has dark red under his chin bum belly areas.

The first picture is the day he came home with red ears. The next is a good picture of his reddish areas behind his legs.

We wanted a red one but won't trade him in for anything!

Both our Apricots got way light-BUMMER
Murphy got a lot lighter, but he was all the same color.
Gracie Doodle is an almost 4 year old Standard Apricot Goldendoodle.  She looks pretty much the same as she did as a pup.  Really didn't lighten up much if at all!

Darwin was cream with apricot on his ears, tail and back. He still has it, but it's lightened slightly and his coat his brightened to a lighter cream.

Lyric was redder when she was a pup than she is now. Here she is with her son Rafi, shown here at age 3 months. You can see how light she is now and he will get lighter too I imagine.

Dexter was a cream/apricot when he was little and he's mostly white now.  The only apricot left is on his ears and tail.  I wish he had kept more of the apricot coloring :)

Now I wonder what color Kirby was as a puppy...we adopted him at a year.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to hope that Cooper stays his darker color. We love it!
No experience with apricot colors, but Traveler has changed quite a bit from chocolate as a puppy to a sort of frosted cocoa at 17 months.  It was your comment about ear color that really caught my attention--Trav's ear tips stayed darker than the rest of his body.  Strange.

The ears are not an indicator. Ned's ears and tail and eyelashes were red which faded by the time he was a year except for the lashes. He is apricot which hasn't faded much.

OOPS!  I didn't read the whole thing. Ned is a labradoodle. However, I don't think the fading makes a difference.  Most doodles do fade. Ned can't fade because then he would not look like his BFF goldendoodle friend Graciedoodle.  He is her mini-me.'They also say that doodles get curlier.  Ned is a tad curlier but not much.
Clifford alternates between haircuts, going from really red (hence his name) to blonde.  He also tends to go more blonde in the summer - we tell him he looks like he went to the salon to get highlights!
