Rosella, it is almost a given that Omar will lighten. Red coloring in both the apricots and the red doodles is notorious for fading - some a little, many a lot.

Omar is adorable! Congratulations! He looks very much like my Jamaica did at that age ~ he will definitely lighten up.
Hi Everyone! I got my sweet little red doodle, Omar, a week ago and he is a delightful and precocious little guy. Do you all think he will get lighter? I don't really care what colour he ends up being, he's definitely won my heart but I suspect he may lighten up as he gets older. He's 10 weeks old now.

Jeanne Rose, Tara's coat definitely lightened as she got older. Someone referred to her puppy coat as a "fading red". It was darker at the roots and lighter toward the ends. Here are pictures of her taken on the same day before and after her cut. Part of the difference is just the camera and it wasn't quite this drastic in real life but it was quite noticeable:
