Deeann, we began bringing Ned (who is a mini) to romps when he was about 6 months old.  He gravitated to dogs his size then and still does.  At the romps we have in So. Cal. we have a huge size mix of doodles (as well as other dogs) without a problem.

Has anyone had a problem at a doodle romp in a small dog park with larger doodles? I'm not sure how to handle this. Any advice?

We resumed our romps last sat. Sept 11. Although the picture doesn't show all the beautiful doodles, we had at least 12 and some new folks who just happened to be at the park that day. Seems to happen every month. We had a pretty antsy bunch as no one really wanted to hold still long enough to sit and have their picture taken. Better luck next month,.

Also, I found the meetup site to be very helpful in organizing and announcing the romps. I didn't want to ask anyone to help me pay for it and I didn't want to continue myself since we have DK and facebook for free and i got everyone's emails anyway and just started my own email group. We have had anywhere from 12-18 doodles at almost every romp since last year and that has been plenty. There were over 50 members on meetup and I can't imagine if they ALL showed up at one time!!!!! Most parks can't accomodate that many comfortably. I just happen to live by a brand new one now that is VERY big and clean and everyone that goes there loves it, so we can grow more next fall. Let me know how the meetup site goes for you and if you continue with it after the initial 3 months.

Jen, this is what I have made several times and every dog LOVES them. If you go to the DK Cookbook Group you will find tons more treat recipes. These freeze will too.

Moc's Homemade Dog Treat Recipe

3 eggs
2/3 cup oil vegetable or olive oil
1 pound raw beef liver
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon garlic (fresh minced or dried) or garlic salt to taste
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Beat eggs and oil a few seconds in blender. Using scissors, cut liver into small pieces and add to egg/oil mixture. Add a few tablespoons of water to any liver juice remaining in the container, swish, and add to blender mixture. Add fresh minced or powdered garlic or garlic salt 'to taste' and puree until thoroughly blended. Pour mixture into bowl. Add flour while stirring. Depending on your flour, humidity, elevation, etc., adjust flour as necessary. You want the consistency of brownie batter that can be poured into the pans -- not runny, but not like cookie dough either.
Spoon batter into non-stick or spray-coated cake or jelly roll pan (I divide the batter between two standard 13x9 sheet cake pans) and spread evenly. Tap pan on counter several times to bring up any air bubbles in the batter.
Bake for 10 minutes in 425 degree oven, or until the top is dry and outer edges are just beginning to brown. The thickness of your treats and the baking time will vary depending on the size of the pan(s) you use. Remove from the oven. Cool in pans 5 minutes.
