Garden Group

I hope there are many gardeners among us doodle owners. After all we must be nurturers. We can share information on what's safe for dogs, how to keep them from destroying plantings and all green related things.

Yes, our beds just keep popping up with small weeds.  I have removed most of the larger ones, but those little ones kill me!!!!!!!!!!!

Certainly one of the safest. I dig out things like dandelions but you need to try to get the whole root. Most things just get mowed when I mow the lawn.

I need to kill some weeds - they keep popping up no matter what I do! It is out of control. So spraying some vinegar is the best way to do this?

Not all perennials do well in containers. Maybe you could start a discussion on this. I've had success with some lavender in a planter on my fromt porch, not so much success in the ground. A drainage thing I think.

I try to garden, I used to have a veg garden but since we moved im very limited to container gardening on my (somewhat large) patio. So far I only have flowers. Many of my perennials decided to be annuals and havent grown this spring.

Welcome. You might also want to check out the Danger Group where there are lists of poisonous plants and things, cocoa mulch  comes to mind, to avoid. I do have some poisonous plants but the dogs avoid them. Things like cocoa mulch attract dogs, however.

Welcome to the group. Maybe you'll decide to move : ) Actually container gardening is a huge thing nowadays and we can all do that.

We live in a condo and I  have a few spring bulbs and day lilies coming up in our small garden area and then I plant a few boxes for the deck...I will be living vicariously through all of your gardens this spring. Just beautiful, will be anxiously awaiting the arrival of this years blooms from all of you. Just beautiful...maybe I will post some pics of my garden boxes after they come in, some years good some years not so much. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I don't think there really are any safe weed killers unless you do spot killing with something like vinegar. But for widespread lawn use the herbicides are not safe particularly the ones with 2,4 D.

I have three year old centipede grass that was installed when I had my home built. My grass was something I always took so much pride in. I also am a brand new gardener. I am trying my hand out on a few things.

I need to fertilize my grass with some weed killer, it is getting really bad, I just don't want to put anything down that will effect Jack. His paws are all over the yard. I wouldn't mind keeping him off there for a few days  if I was sure it would be okay for him to play on again later.

Anyone have a safe alternatvie to getting rid of the weeds in the yard?
