Garden Group

I hope there are many gardeners among us doodle owners. After all we must be nurturers. We can share information on what's safe for dogs, how to keep them from destroying plantings and all green related things.

As I said before, splendid portraits. Now you've combined 3 of my favorites, gardens, doodles and photography.

Oh, Ann, your doodles are so GORGEOUS! And what wonderful photos! I especially love the ones where they are sitting on the benches together.

We went on a unexpected but nice little trip this past weekend to Ann Arbor, MI. While we were there we spent a few hours at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum, which is located right by Michigan State University. (A young couple we were chatting with at a dog park in Ann Arbor suggested we walk our dogs there.) I am so glad we went! It was so beautiful and we so enjoyed the Peony Garden at the Arboretum which shows 27 beds of peonies arranged by season and color. It smelled heavenly!! We also walked the trails through the woods and saw more flowers and flowering shrubs. Sheba & Duke had a great time, especially when they were able to walk in the river and cool off a little. Here are a couple pictures.

Did you know there's even a plant named for OFL--well almost any way.

An excellent way to start learning about plants is to start getting some catalogs and browsing through them. Once you order a few catalogs they multiply. It's wonderful to start looking through the flowers in the dead of winter. Some catalogs I'd recommend for browsing, not necessarily browsing are: White Flower Farm, Wayside Gardens, Bluestone Perennials, High Country Gardens, David Austin roses ....

Anything with hot bacon dressing probably tastes good.
